❤️❤️❤️ What a glorious morning!!!!! 🌞 Just ran my 6k at 6am, no pain and back in my minimalist beach shoes 🤡 . I saw Christophe my physio yesterday and he studied my running form.... Dang, i had lost my cadence, 180/min, and this seemed to be why pain creeped back in my running. This morning my 6k was easy, on the body at least, but i was soon out of breath and in sweat. Basically I've been running too slow and in bad form + was heel striking again. Things are really lookingup for the rest of the summer. Love you all xxxxx ❤️❤️❤️ Guy Giard

😃😃😃Good morning friends, seems I'm doing good on my recovery. ⚕️ Yesterday I ran 8k and felt fine afterwards, and today I would be ready to run again, but I am careful for having rest days in between. Last evening we did self-defense in Taekwondo, a great class where at one point Ireally enjoyed imagining kicking my agressor in the groin😈... Ever had that feeling??? Yeah!!!! 😁😁😁 Just finished my 6k run at 6am this saturday morning. I went to my physio this week for my knees and met very interesting Christophe. Highly professional and doctor for a soccer team, he's passionate about helping his clients. I learned a lot as he showed me the anatomy and that my knees were alright, but my leg muscles are super tight and knotted... ouch 😭😭😭😭 Basically i transitioned to fast from ice and snow runs to minimal shoes on flat surfaces and didn't give time enough for my body to adapt. I now have a foam roller and a series of exercices to do, and back to running slowing down for my heartbeat, now with an average of 140, still to high. dang! I have 2 more taekwondo 🥋 classes left for this session, loved it. ❤️❤️❤️ Hopefully I'll be able to continu this fall, next lockdown permitting. I just love being healthy!!! Ouch 😢... this clown is in a bit of pain 🤡 On the last day of May I ran a great 12k down to Old Montréal with a bit of on and off knee pain, mostly off. Yesterday I had my taekwondo class and we had our first fighting practice, kicking on the chest protector, it was fun! So maybe there was a bit of this, or just running 12k was too much, even in my new real running shoes? So at the end of my morning run my left knee started to swell a bit along with the pain.

Yesterday it slowly got better, so I carefully went to my Taekwondo practice even if I would only sit and watch I didn't want to miss it. I warmed up slowly and eventually did the full class, and this morning the pain and swelling are very minor. I've set up an appointment with the physiotherapist, there's really something going on with my left leg I want to heal once and for all. Good morning friends ❤ Today Sunday, May 29, is my first day of heart rate training. I got my new watch to calculate and at 6am I was by the canal and did an 8k run in my new shoes. I was already sweating because the sun was so hot. The biggest challenge was slowing down because I was running 140 BPH, my goal was 120. So I braked, walked and finally got to 130; still too fast, arrgghhh..... Patience Guy 🙂 The goal of this technique called the Maffetone method is to slowly increase the oxygen/mitochondria levels in the muscles. . Love you all ❤ ❤ ❤ xxxxx Guy Giard

YEAH!!!!!!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ Just finished my 10k, or was it actually 9k???? The run in Jarry park consisted of a big loop of 1k, but they didn't count the loops!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 That's funny, perfect for a clown 🤡🤡🤡 I ran it in 57 minutes, which would be exceptional, so i think a 10k of around 63 minutes, my average. I'm happy 🙂 for a first year, my third run in a row. I'm now goign to train using the maffetone method, areobic running with a heart monitor watch. I look forward to share my progression with you. Good monday morning! Just finished my 7k morning run. I'm using shoes this time around just to heal my feet and knees, creating a new baseline and make incremental changes from there. I'm waiting for my heart rate watch monitor so i can start to train methodicaly. great things coming. and this evening is my taekwondo class. twice a week. Growing old into health! 💖💖💖😀😀😀 Hi everyone, I've started a new training program, relearning how to run properly, barefoot, and with exercices to strengten my calfs, legs and hips. I'm becoming like a kid again enjoying jump rope 🤡. I just completed my first 4k barefoot and it feels great. I'm being very careful to place my feet right under me, so I am going much slower, even backwards sometimes. Lots of discovery to be made :) Love you all ❤️❤️ xxxx Guy Giard

🙂 I am fortunate to have a training session with Malcolm Balk, a very knowledgeable man. He gave me exercises and tips on how to gain speed as I transition from jogging to running. It's physical, mental and such a great feeling to let go and let loose! My heart was racing and now I feel a little soreness in muscles that I barely used before. It was a very rewarding experience. Yeah!!!! Uku the clown 🤡 completed a 10k race at 62 minutes. This time I ran non-stop and in sandals. With my red nose I brought a lot of laughter and joy to the volunteers, parents and kids along the way, and I got this gorgeous medal of the iconic Farine Red Rose to boot!!!! 🤡 Good morning ❤️❤️❤️ 6:30 am, -4c with the 35k winds, a short 6k, my average of 40 minutes, non-stop. Most of the snow has melted away, but man the winds!!!!! 🥶🥶🥶🥶 So I kept it short as I felt my fingers and my arms freeze. Still I was in sandals, just my toes got red 😂😂. 😁😆😍🤡 15k non-stop, 1h40min in sandals, shorts and shirtless in just above freezing temperatures! !! Monday, April 18, who could have imagined it? Not me! 🤩🙃 I'm so excited, sorry for tooting my horn🥳🥳 When I finally stopped at the lion to film my message to you, I couldn't figure out how long I had been running...? What? An hour and 40 minutes, non-stop, that's insane! I got out at 6:15 just as the sun was coming up, there wasn't a cloud in the emerald blue sky. A little bit of biting wind bringing the temperature below freezing, but I just started, no intervals, no tempo, in pure silence with the morning birds singing.

The sandals slapped a little, but this time I felt my posture was right for it. When the golden sun appeared above the horizon, it was so beautiful, and concentrating on my nasal breathing, I simply repeated: "Ok, just a little further, just a little". And each time further, further. It became a new challenge, non-stop on the way out, then non-stop on the way back, and finally adding more kilometers. A new lesson for the day: The sandals hurt a little the first few times, but my body found its new balance very quickly !!!!. Trust your body, it knows!!!

April 15th, 6;30 am, 6Celsius, 12k run to the old Port of montreal.


This is my third attemt at running with sandals. I run aware of my breathing, noise of my steps and overall balance. I think I'm getting the hang of it and won't have blisters anymore. One must be patient when making changes for the body to adapt. I like to challenge myself, gently nudging my limits, first barefoot, then the cold, now sandals. I no longer use intervals or follow a beat. I just listen to myself. So I made 12k in about 1h20m, which I don't even think about. I think it's time i find a coach or friend to help me with my form. 😁😆😍🤡 Back for a 6k in sandals and under the rain this morning. I got blisters from my last run, so I filed down some of the edges under my big toes, and so far so good. The weather was around a balmy and smooth 8Celsius, and I had to stop many times to adjust my straps, plus tiny rocks slipped in more frequently and stuck under my feet with the rain. Still a wonderful exploration of all the possibilities! I hope to be ready for my next official 10k in 10 days at Ile St-Hélène, or Parc Jean-Drapeaux as it is now called. 😁😆😍12k in 0c sandals 🤡🥶 April 9th, 2022. Wow, what a wonderful experience. I was worried that my feet and toes would be cold, as well as my knees, but it was great, and I made it all the way to the clock tower in the Old Port. I even ran barefoot for 500 meters, just to get them ready. I had no stopwatch, no intervals, no 180 pace pulse, I just ran in silence and focused on my breathing, my posture, and the slap of my sandals on the ground. I stopped occasionally to adjust the tension of the straps and loved the overall experience.

I tried to run as quietly as possible, knowing that any slapping noise meant counterforce, pressure on my knees and blisters on my feet. So I tested micro-adjustments and, wonder of wonders, I was sometimes silent and felt like I was flying through the air. What a great learning experience, and another small step in my running life!
