As the foundational edifice our forefathers built degrades and collapses all around us, it's never been more important to both learn to discern the dark from the light, and to *find your tribe*.. to reject this powerless and passive victim mentality, as if we have no options or agency, and find ways to help create or support parallel structure - parallel culture (art, music, entertainment, literature, philosophy and ideology), parallel groups and clubs, institutions and businesses and communities.. ultimately, parallel ways of living.

Of course all such efforts start small - this is a given.
Yet, if what results becomes attractive and compelling, if we're able to gradually create alternatives that are obviously superior to the corruption and decay we're seeing and experiencing all around us, others will eventually flock to these solutions, and enthusiastically lend a hand to this creation process.

I'm of the belief (and I think I'm far from alone here) that the corruption has burrowed so deeply, and become so all-pervasive, that using our time and energy to win conventional political battles or fight the most trendy and superficial culture wars is a mistake, and a waste. when you wake to the reality that much of all we see around us is now pure theater, and essentially 'rigged', designed to distract, disorient, and dissipate vital energies, the solution isn't to continue to play theatrical games.. at some point we need to be willing to step off of this stage, leave this artifice and deception behind, and seek to create something real in its stead.

Not merely as an 'escape', but as a means to help create and cultivate healthier people, to better fight (and more clearly understand) the inevitable battles ahead. I'd suggest we're being subtly poisoned in a multitude of ways we don't yet fully recognize.. and that this poison is causing us to increasingly lead desperate and broken half-lives. We've allowed sick men to become our storytellers and narrative creators and authors of prevailing culture.. and as inevitable result, we've grown sick. Yet, none of this is irreversible.

Find those you most resonate with, form genuine bonds, and work together to create the new.. create pockets of health that might be networked and allied to create something significant.

None of this is impossible.. and the process has now already begun, in earnest - seek to play a part.

The Art of War is an ancient guide on military strategy. Written by Sun Tzu a Chinese general and philosopher in the 5th Century B.C. It was created after he helped successfully defend the Chinese province of Wu against the province Chu.

The strategies in this book have been used for hundreds of years in military campaigns, business and sports. It is the ultimate guide on how to defeat an opposing force in whatever form that might take. Contrary to what we might expect, The Art of War actually advises to avoid fighting as much as possible by only striking targets that are weak and using manipulation to subdue the enemy.

Ultimately Sun Tzu teaches us how to have the advantage in conflict giving us the best possible chance of success. My hope for this production was to provide an exciting and digestible rendition of this ancient text that can help people learn these strategies for years to come.

I hadn't planned on this being the subject matter of part 8.2 in this series.. but after stumbling upon 'The Scythian Empire', and recognizing not just vindication and confirmation of much of what I've believed to be true, but additional elaboration and some impressive new insights, I pushed much of what I'd originally planned to discuss to the next installment, and felt the need to speak to this first.

Are you training your biceps wrong? You are about to find out in this video on how to get bigger biceps by implementing a biceps workout strategy that may be completely new to you. We look to the teachings of the late great Mike Mentzer to give us clues as to how we may want to switch up the way we do our biceps exercises, and all of our workouts for that matter, to get bigger arms in the long run.

It starts with a declaration by Mentzer where he says that the best biceps exercise for growth is hands down the close grip underhand pulldown. Now, keep in mind, this is not the same as the underhand pulldown done for the back and lats. If you focus the intention of the pull on the elbow and stop when the elbow joint is at about 90 degrees of flexion, you will keep the tension high on the biceps rather than the lats.

That said, is he right?

Well, I want to take you back to a time early last year that I tore by distal biceps tendon. I was trying to prevent my son from falling on the ice after he slipped, and the sudden grab to catch him resulted in a 99 percent tear of the distal biceps tendon off the bone. Up to that point, I had done a lot of heavy barbell curls, chinups, waiter’s curls and drag curls to build the biceps that I have today.

What I liked best about the chinup was that it mimicked the same benefits that Mike spoke of when he talked about the underhand pulldown. It shortened the biceps by putting it in a flexed shoulder position along with a flexed elbow. It was actually a very safe biceps exercise for a torn tendon since there was no great eccentric lengthening that took place here. As the elbow was extended the shoulder was flexed more - taking away some of the overstretch that could compromise the biceps muscle.

The only issue was, with the biceps being weakened by the tear I was finding that my medial elbow pain was increasing from trying to manage my bodyweight up on the bar.

This is when I remembered the lecture from Mike Mentzer discussing his favorite biceps exercise. I tried it and it was a game changer. I started using this exercise for biceps training a great deal. Not only was it something I could scale better than a full body chinup but I was also starting to feel the mind muscle connection with the biceps that had gone missing since the time of the tear.

That said, I didn’t stop at just one biceps exercise. I come from a long history and background of doing more than just the one set or exercise that Mike recommends in his Heavy Duty training. So I curled too. That said, I used a method that would dramatically cut down ont he volume of biceps curls I was doing. I used the run the rack technique shown in the video.
