This is about doing a leak down test on a ford 4.0 OHV for the problems I had of using coolant and fouling out number 3 spark plug.

Here is the full Story:
When I bought the truck I immediately did a tune up with new plugs and wires but a few weeks later it starts to miss on start up then was missing all the time and diagnosed it to find a fouled out plug so changed it but few weeks later it did the same thing again so changed the plug again but made the spark plug gape 10 thousands of an inch smaller out of spec compared to the rest of the cylinders and that put a band-aid on the problem. Now months later I started noticing it loosing more coolant then it should so reading on the internet got me an idea on what the problem is so this video is whats followed.

This is just showing what I am doing when putting the top end back together. The reason for this repair is that the passenger head cracked on number 3 cylinder and was consuming coolant.

I am just giving some information and showing me doing a compression test on this jeep 4.0 i6. The reason I am doing this is to give me an idea on the condition of the cylinder walls because of the engine knock this 4.0 has so the diagnose of said knock will be in another video.

This is a update on my vehicle situation on what was the plan for cheap 4x4 project but now it just going to be the jeep project.

This video is about OBS powerstroke Popular Trans upgrades
Ford 4R100 3/8s lines part #s from dealer
F81Z-7A031-CE Tube
F81Z-7A030-CA Tube
2C3Z-7H322-BA Bypass

Summit Racing parts
DER-13024 Bottom of radiator adapter fittings and need 2 kits
BMM-70274 The trans cooler I choose

This will be a start of a log of what I am doing to this SUV. The plan is to make a truck that can be a Trail and go fast desert/dune truck.
The SPECS:
1994 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4
Engine: Stock 4.0 V6
Trans: Mazda M5OD-R1 5 speed
Axles: stock Dana 35 up front and 8.8 31 spline in back
The ratio in the axle from factory are 3.27s but are being switched out with 3.73s from a junk yard Ford explorer.
The next video will an update and work being done to the rear end.

15 Degrees F. Cold start on 3/23/14
Test of the new parts I just put on.
New parts are...
8 Glow plugs because a few were bad but decided to do all of them
Glow plug relay because the plugs were not getting the amps they needed
2 new battery because the 5 year old ones finally got killed from the cold.
The blue smoke is oil from the worn out valve stem seals.

This video is to show you the easiest way I found ,Without Fire, to remove leaf spring hanger/shackles that rusted out and are riveted on the vehicles. This typically happens on Ford F-series trucks, Rangers, Explorers and etc. The REAL easy way is to use an Oxy Acetylene Torch but I don't have that so here is the next best thing.

Hello my name is Tom and the channel is basically is going to show you the upgrades and mods I am doing to my vehicles. Most of these will be on 4x4s for off-road use as well as DD use and may be some how-to videos as well as technical videos. The off-road vehicles that I am really into are the long travel suspension pre-runners, short course trucks and trophy trucks.

Now I am by all means not an expert but I do know my stuff.
