As Pokemon games evolved, so did the movesets of major trainer battles. But what would happen if those sets were designed using the same methods as the original games? Today, I answer that question for Gold, Silver, and Crystal, over a year after performing a similar analysis in Pokemon Yellow.

Time to continue my leveling journey through Hardcore Turtle WoW. Today, I revisit the stomping grounds of my last death, explore some original content, put my life in the hands of some randos, and almost certainly repeatedly mispronounce the word "Sepulcher".

Today, I embark on a journey to level to 60 in Turtle WoW on Hardcore Mode. God help us all.

HARDCORE RULES:
1. Dying in-game ends the run. A new character has to be made in order to try again.
2. You cannot group or trade with non-Hardcore players or Hardcore players more than 5 levels above or below yours. You cannot send or receive items from other players through mail, and you cannot use the Auction House.
3. All items and mail are deleted upon initiating Hardcore Mode.
BONUS: All experience gained from defeating enemies is halved (Slow & Steady Mode)

I was going to mirror the video description, but there wasn't one, so I guess I get to add context. Some time in early 2011, Wormwood, the uploader of the original video acquired the Grey Riding Camel, a very rare mount, and the first one acquired on the server, if memory serves me correctly. Wormwood's original intention was to equip a robe and turban and ride around on it, but I thought that he could take it a step further. Knowing he was an engineer, and engineers could make an item that damaged themselves and everything around them (Global Thermal Sapper Charge), I suggested he use that in conjuction with his new duds, so on Easter of that year, he put everything together, and this video was the end result of that.

Fortunately, I have not received any mail bombs as a result of this video.

In an upload as slow as the pokemon in question, the Slowpoke line gets its shot at solorunning glory. Will speed really be THAT important?

The major battles in Pokemon Yellow are quite famously more difficult than their Red/Blue counterparts. Why is there such a gap, and would the gap close if the Yellow teams had movepools that followed the same constraints as Red/Blue teams? Let's find out in this fun little thought experiment.
