On another note. This is the first video I've edited with Davinci Resolve. There should be a noticeable upgrade on the video color quality. I don't really know why that is, but it definitely makes the change worth it. I'll likely purchase the pro version to unlock a few things. It's rather cheap.

Vilma is usually rather smart about her food thievery. Normally she waits around and pretends to sleep, and only makes her move when we leave the room. But sometimes the food is just too good and she simply doesn't have the patience!
When this happens, Vilma's tactic is to move slowly and try not to make a sound - It's a horrible tactic and does not work at all but it's pretty funny to watch :p

Does your cat sometimes crawl under a carpet, too? Does it hunt, observe or take a nap while under there? With Vilma we just never know :)
I really like this video. It has a simple idea where we get to enjoy Vilma's antics and behaviors. A throwback to videos that we made about a year ago with a slightly improved editing.
PS: My new computer has been assembled and installed. It's great to see that Shotcut apt package actually works with this new setup. I'm expecting that this will make editing more stable. I still have to migrate all the data, finalize configurations, install a few more drives, buy another 2HDDx8tb and 1SSDx4tb of storage, create and configure a sane backup schedule, install and configure LBRY server and update Debian running Nextcloud... yeah, it's going to take some time but progress has been made :p

Pidän tästä videosta. Yksinkertainen idea, jossa voimme tarkkailla Vilman tapoja ja outouksia. Tämä video tuntuu eräänlaiselta paluulta vuosi sitten tekemiimme videoihin, vaikkakin editointi on hiukan parantunut.
PS: Uusi koneeni on viimein kasattu ja asennettu. Mukava nähdä, että Shotcut toimii nyt apt-pakettina. Uskon, että tämä tulee helpottamaan editointia kaatumisten vähentymisenä. Minun pitää vielä migroida kaikki data, viimeistellä konfiguraatiot, asentaa muutama levy lisää koneeseen, ostaa lisää levyjä (2HDDx8tb ja 1SSDx4tb), suunnitella ja luoda varmuuskopiontisuunnitelma, asentaa LBRY-palvelun ja päivittää Debian Nextcloud-palvelimelta... joo, tässä tulee menemään hetki :p

Vilma's Halloween 2023 surprise! We have never carved a pumpkin before, so this was also Vilma's first time seeing one in a jack'lantern form.

PS: LBRY client was having some issues with SPV servers and we really wanted to release this before Halloween. Thus, this is now our first release directly through Odysee. Thanks to Odysee for providing a stable service. I'm planning on running my own LBRY wallet server once my "final final" computer parts arrive. That should solve out this issue.

Instead of doing planned setups, we have a rare chance to catch Vilma flipping out by pure luck. We bought a new feather toy (like we often do) but this time Vilma reacted strongly to it. During the three years of making Vilma videos, we have only caught this reaction perhaps two times. It's a sight - and we got it on camera :)

Turns out Vilma really loves sunbathing. Usually she prefers quiet and soft places but in the countryside she prefers spots with the most sunlight. When the sun changes directions, Vilma changes her resting place. Only food, playtime and scratch time get her to pause this new hobby.
Praise the sun \o/
We are temporarily returning to our old house until we get some renovations done. Expect more videos from our old house. By the way, can you tell where the inspiration for the beginning intro came from? ;)
PS: We finally connected Stripe to our Odysee account. This means that non-crypto donations should be possible (I haven't tested it out yet). I could create Odysee memberships but that feature in not available in Finland yet. With that being said, it's all for fun and voluntary :)

Vilma nähtävästi rakastaa auringonottoa. Yleensä Vilma tykkää nukkua rauhallisissa ja pehmeissä paikoissa, mutta maaseudulla paikka valitaan täysin auringonvalon perusteella. Kun aurinko vaihtaa suuntaa, Vilma siirtyy mukana. Ainoastaan ruoka, leikki ja rapsuhetket saavat Vilman vaihtamaan paikkaa.
Palaamme väliaikaisesti takaisin vanhalle talolle kunnes saamme vähän remonttia valmiiksi. Voitte siis odottaa tuttua asuntoa seuraavissa videoissa. Pikainen kysymys tähän loppuun; tunnistaako kukaan intron inspriraation lähdettä? ;)
PS: Kytkimme viimein Stripe-tilimme Odyseehen. Rahalahjoituksien pitäisi siis olla nyt mahdollisia (en ole testannut käytännössä, mutta pitäisi toimia). Voisin kyllä luoda Odysee-jäsenyyksiä, mutta tämä ominaisuus ei ole vielä tarjolla Suomessa. Tämä on kuitenkin vain harrastus, joten näillä ei ole niin paljon merkitystä :)

And now something completely different. My mother bought me a shirt from Thailand - and it was marvelous. I instantly knew that such a beauty could only be worn on special occasions. What special occasions? That would be cabin trips! Many of us Finns are drawn to country side cabins during summer and I wanted to make sure that people can distinctively recognize my stature and class by a single glance.
It was only this summer that I realized that this masterpiece of a clothing wear has a special ability! I knew that the the shirt was awesome but I didn't understand its' true meaning until now. Here's a short video of the day we saw it :)

Today we are celebrating Vilma's first fiat monetary compensation! Remember that intro video we made for minds.com challenge? The payment came through and Vilma has officially received her first ever 5 dollars! I consider this an awesome achievement and a cause for a short celebratory video (+ I complete another challenge from minds.com, non-monetary this time)
It cost me 6 dollars to make this, not counting gas money or the work hours. The editing had to be done in a day, totally worth it :D
PS: Ubuntu Lady Lobster is working well. Some small bugs here and there but definitely a great user experience! I will upgrade my whole computer next, and yes, I do plan to go a little overboard with it :)

Second episode for the critically acclaimed masterpiece Vilma Cat Moves To The Countryside!
Sometimes you just get lucky. There have been a handful of times when we have captured something almost magical while filming Vilma. This was one those cases. I had a script (somewhat) written for this, but after working on the video and watching the material, it was clear that it had to be done this way. Hopefully many of you get to experience these moments with your animal friends :)

Uusi jakso on viimein ulkona kriitikoiden ylistämästä sarjasta!
Vilman kuvaaminen on aina hauskaa, mutta välillä käy tuuri ja kuvattu materiaali on jotain aivan mahtavaa. Tällä kertaa meillä todella kävin tuuri ja saimme jotain hienoa kuvattua. Minulla oli tähän käsirjoitus(mainen juttu valmiina), mutta materiaalin nähtyäni oli selvää, että se piti julkaista tällaisena. Toivottavasti monet saavat kokea tällaisia hetkiä eläinystäviensä kanssa :)

We went for a vacation for a week. We could not leave Vilma alone during this time, but luckily we found a senior couple (thanks mom!) who wanted to take care of Vilma. We got daily updates of Vilma's vacation during this time. After the vacation was over, we decided to create a blog post out of the material. Originally we indented to create a multi-image post but we then realized that this was not supported without having an external image host (lbry client). No worries, we just had to create a video out of all the material :)
edit. Realized that we could have released the blog through Odysee. That would have supported multi-image blog posts. Perhaps it's better this way :)

Menimme lomalle viikoksi, mutta emme voineet ottaa Vilmaa mukaan. Onneksi löysimme mahtavan pariskunnan (kiitti äiti!), joka halusi ottaa Vilman hoitoon. Saimme päivityksiä Vilman kuulumisista joka päivä. Loman jälkeen päätimme tehdä julkaisun kaikista kuvista. Alkuperäinen idea oli tehdä blogi-postaus monella kuvalla, mutta eihän sellainen ole vielä tuettu. Eipä siinä mitään, päätimme tehdä videon kaikesta materiaalista :)

Duck mayhem is over and it's time to get back to Vilma :)
Vilma is now 12 years old. She's officially a senior cat. Vilma is still the same sweetheart as when we got her but there are some clear changes. The color of her eyes has changed from amber to yellow/green, her fur has grown some white patches and started to look brown in some lighting. But the biggest changes have been her facial expressions and the fact that she now has a BALD spot. It's really hard not to see this spot when Vilma walks by :D
After Vilma got some teeth removed for the first time, she developed a new groove to control her drooling:

Sorsakausi on ohi ja aika palata Vilmaan :)
Vilma on nyt 12-vuotias seniori-kissa. Hän on yhä sama suloinen otus kuin ennenkin, mutta ikä on tuonut muutoksia. Vilman silmien väri on muuttunut oranssista vihreän ja keltaisen sekoitukseksi, turkkiin on tullut valkoisia raitoja ja oikeanlaisessa valaistuksessa se näyttää jopa ruskealta. Suurimmat muutokset ovat kuitenkin Vilman uudet ilmeet ja KALJU läiskä. Tätä läiskää on vaikea olla näkemättä, kun Vilma kävelee ohi :D

Our city allows duck feeding during the winter when their food supply gets low. Happy to report that the ducks have a constant flow of feeders and there are actually quite a lot of them this year.
