the rolling stones - paint it black - live tv performance - now in true stereo
Edit (live true stereo) for headphones. This is the video of the shorter version of the song they performed on U.S. tv (music dubbed, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards singing live, the third verse and the last four lines were omitted). I added the instrumental stereo track to the video, another hurray for Holland.
Recorded March 6 - 9, 1966. Released in April/May, 1966, it charted #1 in Holland, the UK and the US, #2 in Ireland, Germany, Norway and Austria, #3 in Canada and Belgium, #4 in New Zealand. In 1990 it charted a whole month #1 in Holland, # 11 in Belgium and #61 in the UK. In 2007 #49 in Germany. In 2012 #127 in France. Released on the US album version of "Aftermath" in July, 1966.
Sitar & tamboura: Brian Jones. Lead vocals: Mick Jagger. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass (Vox Teardrop) & organ: Bill Wyman. Acoustic guitar & backing vocals: Keith Richards. Piano: Jack Nitzsche.
The stereo track is from the album "Aftermath Isolated Trax".
"Paint It Black" was covered by eight bands on their singles releases and by 48 artists on b-sides or albums.
PAINT IT, BLACK
(Jagger/Richards)
I see my red door and I want it painted black
no colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
with flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day
no more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
if I look hard enough into the settin' sun
my love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes
I see my red door and I want it painted black
no colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
mmm, mmm, mmm...
yeah, I wanna see it painted!
