Approximately around 20,000 to 22,000 Belgians fought alongside the Germans during WW2.
Four Belgian Waffen-SS volunteers were awarded Germany's highest decoration, The Knight's Cross. They are:
SS-Hauptsturmfuehrer Léon Degrelle (February 20, 1944)
SS-Untersturmfuehrer Léon Gillis (September 30, 1944)
SS-Untersturmfuehrer Jacques Leroy (April 20, 1945)
SS-Sturmmann Remi Schrijnen (September 21, 1944)
May these heroes rest in peace, they saw what was coming and did their best to protect, Europe, Belgium and the whole world!
