I thought I’d quickly mention the latest announcement from Indian Motorcycles, in the form of the new Scout Rogue version, which takes the existing machine, adds a few choice additions, alongside one significant change, and rolls out with that ‘Rogue’ moniker.
That significant change is the use of a 19 inch front wheel, which should impart a new handling characteristic, with the bike clad in Metzeler Cruisetec rubber on both ends, with a 130/60 on the 19 inch front, and a 150/80 on the 16 inch rear, with both wheels being cast units in black.
That ties into the overall colour scheme, which is blacked out for the majority of the bike, regardless of which colour you pick, all of which are understated and include a traditional Black Smoke Midnight, Stealth Gray and Sagebrush Smoke, which is a dark green.
New for the Scout Rogue is a quarter fairing, with a café racer theme to it, bracketing the headlight and incorporating a low screen which should offer some wind protection.
The taller mini-ape hanger bars will provide a bit of a reach for most riders, for an engaging seating position, with a sport style seat that includes a backrest for the rider ensuring swift acceleration doesn’t send you over the back wheel. There’s no standard pillion seat however.
In a boon for existing owners, that quarter fairing can be purchased from the accessory catalogue and fitted to 2015 onwards Scout models, and the 2018 onward Scout Bobber. The Rogue seat can be fitted to the 2018 onwards Scout Bobbers as well.
Powering the Scout Rogue is the six-speed liquid-cooled1133 cc V-twin producing 94 horsepower or 70 kW, as well as 97 Nm of torque at 5600 rpm. That is a small drop in performance over the older models.
Final drive is a belt, with the Scout Rogue taking 12.5 litres, and running a split-exhaust with dual mufflers, with seat height a low 649 mm, and forward controls fitted.
The bike weighs in at 241 kg dry, and suspension is a set of 41 mm forks with 120 mm of travel, whi..
