Richard Roeper and Guest Critic, Michael Phillips reviews "Semi-Pro", "Penelope" (Reese Witherspoon co-produced, who also stars in this underrated dark Tim Burton-esque Grimm's Fairy Tale-like fantasy romantic comedy from director, Mark Palansky with Christina Ricci as Penelope who has a pig nose as a witches' curse along with James McAvoy and Catherine O'Hara. It was made in 2006 but didn't came out in the states until "Summit Entertainment" picked up the distribution after IFC and "The Weinstein Company" dropped out. The original cut was 104 minutes while the US and UK version are cut down to 80 minutes. You only have to get the German Blu-ray release for the original cut. Another reason why overseas gets everything Americans don't!), "The Bank Job" (Roeper and Phillips were totally overjoyed about this excellent Action Heist film with Jason Statham!), "The Other Boleyn Girl" and "Chicago 10".
Now in Theatres: "Vantage Point", "Charlie Bartlett" and "Be Kind Rewind".
&
New on DVD: "Awake" (Yes, I have it on DVD when I got it last year at "Dollar Tree". Strange drama and not very good. But Jessica Alba is worth the look along with Fisher Stevens who also co-producer, Terrance Howard and Hayden Christensen.), "My Kid Could Paint That". Roeper's pick is "Things We Lost in the Fire" (Overlooked Drama Starring: Bencio Del Toro, Halle Berry and David Duchony) and Phillips' pick is "Into The Wind" (Visual Emotional Drama from Director, Sean Penn and Starring: Emilie Hirsch.)
