"Star Wars" was George Lucas wanting WW2 fighter planes attacking bombers shooting back with machine gun turrets--Nazis in space. That is the VISUAL LOOK, the "cool" effect he wanted and got. It's a shame Lucas rejected the extremely important reality connection scene of Luke looking up into the sky and seeing the outlines of the Empire star destroyer blasting the rebel ship shown here in this video. Not flashy enough.
When it came time to fantasy reality craft a story to justify what Lucas wanted to see: laser sword fights etc. the narrative was lacking just as it's introverted, creator, George Lucas' life experience is/was lacking military/police/other national service defaulting to dangerously evil, Eastern mysticism.
Lucas wants his WW2esque cake and Star Trek warp speed cake and eat it too: the Millennial Falcon when cornered at regular sub-light speed can jump into hyperspace speed to escape. Why can't the Empire ships do the same? Is it a technological limitation based on size?
Anyway, after destroying the DEATH STAR, in the 1st movie, the Rebellion could have hyperdrive escaped into the nearly? infinite expanse of the universe, lived "off-the-grid" ie; given off no electronic bread crumbs for the Empire to follow and NO STAR WARS story to follow. Just leave us alone, Empire!
Empire Strikes Back! tries to justify the Rebels being found by aggressive and persistent Vader drone sensor fishing nets but this is unrealistic and just an excuse to get the VISUAL LOOK desired; which is a ground assault of the rebels with walking tank elephant war machines with laser beams. We have had war elephants for thousands of years. Whatever. New to most civilian normies!
Another military failure in the Star Wars universe is the lust for the X-wing fighter-bomber to also be its own long-distance transport, yes or no? If being unable to go potty is the only reason for a Millennial Falcon over a X-wing? Hyperdive? Do space fighter-bombers need a mother spaceship carrier ala "Battlestar Galactica" yes or no? The Empire's TIE fighters certainly need a mothership.
Again, Lucas wanted the X-wing and TIE fighters because THEY VISUALLY LOOK COOL. Laser beams firing like machine guns, LOOK VISUALLY COOL. Spaceships with all sorts of protrusions, edges, shapes from miscellaneous model parts glued to them LOOKS VISUALLY COOL.
We wish the 1st Star Wars story was more moral but it is what it is: malcontent-ed life persons starts a rebellion that creates an empire that somewhat moral people defeat. Fans are rightly enraged that ACT 2 is a pile of reliving story #1 to deliver a filthy nihilist-hedonist WOKETARDED psychological warfare attack on the audience to further real-world evil villains: the Satanic theosophist, Pedo Illuminati--New World Order, 666 tyrannical agenda. Clever Star Wars Act 2 script writers should have made an evil secret society slowly taking over a consumerist pacified civilian normie world Han, Luke, Leia, Rando et al created the new STAR WARS. Have X-wing fighter-bombers strike Pedo-Illuminati mansions/estates etc.
That's the VISUAL LOOK we need to see.
