donovan - to susan on the west coast waiting - stereo 'remaster'
Edit for headphones. Source of the edit is the song on the 1969 album "Barabajagal" (2005 EMI Remaster).
This song was the a-side to "Atlantis" in the USA, where it charted #7 most likely because of all that was going on concerning the Vietnam war.
TO SUSAN ON THE WEST COAST WAITING
(Donovan Leitch)
dear Susan,I know, you love me so
but I want to hear, it in my ear
you know I'd be there, working at my craft
had it not been, for the draft
dry up your tear, and feel no fear
you're here with me, like I'm there with you
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
I'm writing a note, beneath a tree
the smell of the rain, on the greenery
our fathers have painfully lost their way
that's why my love, I'm here today
hear me when I say, there will come a day
when Kings will know and love can grow
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
Susan, I know, you love me so
but I'd like to hear, it in my ear
you know I'd be there, working at my craft
had it not been, for the draft
dry up your tear, and feel no fear
you're here with me like I'm there with you
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy supposedly hating
to Susan on the West Coast waiting
from Andy in Vietnam fighting
Note:
Now we're on Vietnam:
I saw a documentary about Indonesia and the Japan nuclear bombing.
Between 129,000 and 226,000 people were killed, says Wikipedia.
In the documentary it was stated that the Japanese emperial command had decided to give the order to kill all prisoners in the concentration camps.
In Indonesia over a hundred thousand people would have been murdered if this command would have reached the Japanese army there.
Due to the nuclear bombing this horrible war crime was never committed...
The command never reached the forces abroad...
Gives a different insight...
