The war guilt information program was headed by General Douglas McArthur during the occupation of Japan after ww2. GHQ or General head quarters created a press code which made sure no nationalism or patriotism would exist in Japanese media. The press was entirely controlled and comments about certain countries, the cold war and ww2 were forbidden from being made. Patriotic songs like the Aikoku Koshinkyoku were banned as with anything that could instill pride in the people of Japan. Pacifism is one of the direct effects of the program.
