Dystopian Diary, Entry 1:
It’s been a long hard winter living in this dystopia. Covid crashed the stock market and the economy and cost me my livelihood. My company failed and I lost everything. I have no car and live on the Canadian border and so it gets very cold and we get a lot of snow up here, and so I was not able to go on supply runs very often. I spent the winter living in isolation, desolation really, extremely lonely with no one to have any real conversations with, a prisoner in my own home, its walls, and even my own mind becoming like a cell for my own reverberating thoughts and feelings of despair in these cold dark times. I also have started suffering from health problems due to the cold and lack of fresh air and movement, and gotten addicted to certain medicines which are expensive and hard to get. I suppose I should feel lucky to have made it through the winter. Now that it is spring I am thankfully able to go on more frequent supply runs and get most of my needs met again.
Now I know what you are probably wondering, don’t you have anyone in your life who can help you out? No. Because I am a human being, and this planet has been overrun with cyborgs since the technological uprising and take over of the early 2000’s. People thought that Y2K meant that the world was ending due to technology not being able to understand the new millennium. But that is not true. The year 2000 simply ushered in a new era, a global change in which technology would start to take over everything. Film writers such as those who brought us the terminator franchise tried to warn people that this would happen but no one listened. Due to people’s lack of will power they allowed technology to overrun society and wire them all in, kind of like in the matrix films, yet another warning that the humans ignored. And now those who you know as people are mostly actually really cyborgs. They even infiltrated the rest of my family members, all but me, and I now am the only human who remains in my entire bloodline. And those such as myself who have retained their human nature cannot mix with the cyborgs. Cyborgs do not wish to interact with us, and we do not wish to interact with them. Even if we tried, communication is scarcely possible due to our very different ways of communicating. It is like trying to communicate with someone who speaks a different dialect. Even if you can communicate they will invariably only use that communication to try to infiltrate your consciousness and indoctrinate you into their ways. And if they can't they will treat you as an outsider, which is better than the alternative of becoming a cyborg yourself.
