It’s pretty easy to get to that band. Whether you need to clean it or replace it, this short video shows you how to easily access it.

In my 10 years of putting Isopropyl on disc drive bands, I never had any issues. They are all still working.
If you can’t sleep at night from the thoughts of rubbing alcohol on rubber; then you can try Rubber Renew or Rubber Rejuvenator instead. Hopefully then you will get a full night's sleep. You poor baby.

The Super Nintendo power port tends to break. Here's how to replace them. Soldering skills are required although still possible to accomplish with none.
Always solder in a well ventilated room!

WARNING - Attempt Repairs At Your Own Risk! Be patient this actually can take around 45 minutes for the inexperienced.

Each stick has 2 potentiometers, one for left-right and one for up-down.
This video focuses on the repair over disassembly/ re-assembly.
TOOLS ARE LISTED AT THE END OF THE VIDEO
Feel free to ask questions in the comment section below.

I have found this to be the definitive solution for the infamous stick drift, other than replacing the potentiometer. These parts are actually pretty tough. one time I accidentally put the "pot cap" in upside down, forced closed the pot back onto the stick, tested it- nothing for up and down- then opened it again, flipped "pot cap" right side up, closed it all again and the stick works perfectly! lol. I thought I killed it but I didn't. You can give it several tries If the first go doesn't work. Always be mindful of the thin metal on the "pot cap" if it bends or becomes miss-shaped then you'll have issues.
I hope this helps for you.
Any controller with similar technology can be repaired this way.

This is the original model controller that came with the first run of Atari VCS (2600) machines. Also known as Heavy Sixers.
The controller would not send a signal to go left. The problem in this instance was the plug had become dirty or corroded in that particular hole. The video contains the solution to fix that problem.

You do not need to take the controller apart to clean the plug out.

This process can be used on any laser lens. You may try this as many times as you want. If this doesn't work after several tries then the laser is dead and you will need to purchase a new laser. The 91% rubbing alcohol can remove dirt and grime which can inhibit the laser to read. Letting the alcohol sit on the lens for 10 to 15 seconds will get rid of scratches.

Any questions you may have are welcome.

Tools:
Small Flathead screwdriver
Philips screwdriver
Safety pin (not Bobby pin)
Q-tips
91% Isopropyl Alcohol
Windex (I find it cuts through crap that the rubbing stuff can't)

Lots of scrubbing is involved with cleaning the pin connector. I use fast strokes for a considerable amount of time as the friction helps melt away deep imprinted dirt/grime.

If this process doesn't work for you there is a faze 2 cleaning process for exceptionally dirty/ corroded pin connectors.
WARNING: Some pin connectors cannot be brought back to life as the corrosion runs too deep for any amount of cleaning to help.
