RGE explaining that the government is willing to go to dystopian levels to enforce their censorship and are willing to use emotional appeal to do so. Using the children as political pawns, as usual.
We need to protect our freedoms. It's harder to claw them back than to protect them from being taken to begin with.
Right now the Internet is at risk of having severe regulations and counterparty risk of secondary liability put onto it by governments around the world. This channel will only focus on the United States and it's government.
Measures I have seen proposed that I oppose:
- KYC for hosting services, which is already done for DNS domains. (Proposed by the copyright industry)
- Age verification mandates on adult websites, even those that don't host photos/videos of real people (Richard Blumenthal and Ben Sasse)
- EARN IT Act, which would decimate the ability for smaller websites to operate without risk of running afoul of 50 individual state laws. Could cause havoc with hentai sites especially with 50 state obscenity laws being unleashed upon the anime community. (Jurisdictional nightmare.) (Had passed one chamber, got stalled in the other)
- SOPA/PIPA. This one is an Obama-era classic. The copyright industry tried to give the Department of Homeland Security broad Great Firewall of China-esque power in the name of copyright enforcement.
