At 6 am on Wednesday 2nd of March 2022, the police attacked the protestors at parliament. They destroyed the protestors property and vehicles and drove the protestors out using riot gear, tear gas, pepper-spray, fire hoses and eventually used rubber bullets.

The protestors, initially resisted in a peaceful manner. However, after hours of violence from the police, cracks started showing and some of the protestors began to retaliate, causing the whole situation to escalate.

Mainstream media magnified the violence by the protestors and misrepresented them to the public. In the end, violent acts were committed by both sides.

For the last three weeks, thousands came together peacefully at what became known as Camp Freedom or Freedom Village. The camp, which was originally formed by those who travelled to Wellington from throughout the country in the Convoy, was situated on parliament grounds. The protestors had resolved stay there until [at the very least] the jab mandates had been lifted. Protestors also wanted Jacinda or some other prominant member of government or of the opposition to come out of Parliament and engage with them, but neither of these things happened. Then yesterday, riot police stormed the camp, tore down tents and beat, pepper-sprayed and tear-gassed peaceful men women and children.

Here's raw footage I've recorded from Chantelle and Megan's live feeds as Police move in violently on the protesters.

Police punch and pepper spray the protesters. A large number dangerously rush the protesters. Many people are hurt. At least two police fall to the ground as their colleagues walk over their own.

At around 6AM, police moved in, securing the library, removing tents and setting up a perimeter in riot gear. Near the entrance to Parliament grounds, the police then started removing tents on the pavement, including a cooking area, using pepper spray on many innocent people.

As of around 8:30 am, police started removing protester vehicles with forklifts.

Sue Grey, Nelson lawyer and co-leader of the Outdoors Party, said the Police Commissioner has been threatened with his job unless he removes the protesters.

There is a sizeable police presence.
