The French think that everything is a conspiracy. As much as I endorse that level of conspiratorial thought, it’s heavy even for me. Americans have been trained, as one would train a seal, that nothing is a conspiracy - that everything is on the up …

Once you realize that people in power will work together to further their own interests, the “conspiracy” world comes into a much better focus.

It also helps you to see the cloddish antics of the Top of the Pyramid much more easily, and it will erase the built in fear and despair.
