On the morning of the 11th of September 2001, I witnessed this shadow while taking out the trash at 600 East Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. When I went inside, someone told me that the World Trade Center in New York City had just been struck by jet airliners. A bit later, I saw the twin towers collapsing on television. In 2019, I decided to use a web cam view of the Denver skyline to capture a view of the same shadow and record the event. I did double check the time to ensure that the time showing on the video was the correct time (the following year the time was made incorrect, I guess so that I would not record this event again; I did anyway, noting the incorrect time).

The skyscrapers involved include Wells Fargo Center, which casts the shadow, and Republic Plaza, which hosts the annual sunrise shadow as the tallest building in Denver, Colorado.
