This lovely four minute feature has no single creator-rather, it is a compilation formed from very brief bits of newsreel, which taken together form a collage of popular beaches throughout the 1920's. The resulting 'Whirlwind Tour' takes us to see- Palm Beach in 1920, a nameless beach in the Netherlands from 1921, the Canadian English Bay beach from 1926, Atlantic City from 1927, the French resort of Biarritz in 1928, a Ukrainian Beach in Odessa from 1928, and an Irish beach off the Aran Islands from 1929...a truly amazing variety of culture and couture from various coastlines, full of people relaxing and enjoying themselves...
These various documenary snippets were carefully presrved at the University of South Carolina's Moving Image Research Collections Dept-until found by the media restorer known as Glamour Daze who pieced them into current configuration and used an AI process to:
- Clean noise artifacts
- Increase frame interpolation from 15 fps to 60 fps. and Increased resolution from 540p to 4000p.
-Apply color and an amazing 'soundtrack' of ambient background noise.
I lift my glass of mango juice in appreciation of Glamourdaze and other film restorers for my micro-vacation...bring on the Traffic! Colorized, Soundtrack.
