This is my first experience of using a smoke machine and for the budget price of £29.99, I was very happy with the experience.
The device arrived packed in a plain brown cardboard box, coloured party themed packaging might help with sales, which would be robust enough to store unit in between uses. Inside the box was the device itself, a remote control box on a short cable, a wireless remote control, a mounting bracket with attachments and a short but easy to read User Guide. No smoke fluid is provided, a real pity as it means the device cannot be used straight from the box, but a wide variety can be purchased from Amazon and elsewhere. I used was at priced at £6.97 per litre which seems a pretty typical price.
Build quality seems first rate and the unit seems more designed for professional rather than home use being quite large with a metal chassis and a large and rather industrial looking remote switch. The supplied two-button wireless remote looks a bit dated but works OK and is clearly designed for this unit. As to the smoke generator itself, on the top, there is a screw top access to the 300ml smoke fluid tank with a tube to feed the fluid into the machine. On one end is the multi-holed fog outlet port and on the other the red On/Off power button, a socket for the wired remote and fuse access panel, access port for the hard wired mains power cable.
Using the device could not be easier. After filling the tank and plugging in just turn the device on and wait for a couple of minutes for it to warm up. On my unit, the LED did not change colour but it was easy enough to see if it was ready by pressing the button on either remote. The smoke comes out in bursts of about twenty seconds or so so before returning to the heating stage and then ejecting smoke again.
I was amazed by the amount of smoke produced. Just a few seconds was enough to fill the room with quite a dense some, set off our two smoke alarms and send our dogs running to the back door! I believe th..
