What Is Intellectual History?

Intellectual history is dedicated to the study of ideas over time. But what sources are used? How does it differ from philosophy? Does reception studies and medievalism matter for intellectual historians? This (brief) video attempts to answer these questions and provide talking points for an exciting field in history. Drawing on thinkers from Ancient Greece to a Europe pondering over Marxism, I aim to illuminate the many aspects of intellectual history.
