Safety is metal! Protect your baby by having a permanent fire extinguisher in your garage or work area. Mark them and inspect their level regularly (yearly is best).
Also, have a medical kit! I did go overboard a bit, but that’s better than having less.
Some of the things I have are eye wound care (as in the comments more on that!), trauma bandages, sucking chest wound kit, coagulant, gauze, alcohol, band-aids, iodine and even aspirin for heart attacks.
I also recommend knowing basic first aid, and if you don’t, take a course online, or even watching some videos, anything is better than nothing! Again, legal disclaimers apply, so you are on your own, and know that sometimes using certain things can do more harm (for example, using coagulant, will require a mandatory emergency room visit, so if you use it, make sure its not a simple flesh wound, ok?)
I’m even tempted to train on a piece of beef, and how to use the coagulant with the applicator, something I was never trained on how to use. Just in case. I actually did have a minor incident, that resulted in a cut artery in my finger, so this is no joke! Quick thinking and first aid kept me from doing any long term damage, as well as not losing a lot of time from working!
