This is the Monument to the Victims in Poznań under Communist Oppression, also known as the Poznań Crosses, is a significant memorial in Poland. It commemorates the first anti-communist protest in the country, which occurred in June 1956. Unveiled in 1981, on the 25th anniversary of the protests, it features two large crosses, 21 and 19.5 meters high, symbolizing death and resurrection. The upper cross bears the date "1956" and the protest slogan "For freedom, law and bread." The lower cross lists dates of subsequent strikes: 1968, 1970, 1976, 1980, and 1981. An eagle rising from a plinth accompanies the crosses. The monument stands on Adam Mickiewicz Square, formerly Stalin Square, which was a significant gathering point during the protests.
