'The Ukrainian nationalists don’t care about the locals. They treat them very badly, like a human shields. They left them there without food or water'. These are the words of an Italian volunteer with the codename Spartak. He came to Donbass to protect civilians from the aggression of the Ukrainian army.

Foreigners from many countries decided to help the local population: Serbia, Mexico, Colombia, and the USA. Volunteers blame the West for the situation in the region. They consider Donbass their home and admire its inhabitants. ‘Wow, bombs are falling; you heard them this morning, right? And still, to continue with life, you are the heroes’, says American volunteer Zak Novak.
