Everything has a fine coating of pollen here in the holler, Hay Fever, also known as allergic rhinitis, is a common condition that affects many people in Middle Tennessee during the spring and fall months. In Middle Tennessee, the pollen season typically starts in late February or early March and lasts until November.
During this time, different types of pollen, such as tree pollen, grass pollen, and weed pollen, are in the air and can cause allergic reactions in susceptible individuals. The severity of hay fever symptoms varies from person to person, but common symptoms include sneezing, itching, runny nose, and nasal congestion.
To reduce the impact of hay fever, individuals can take steps such as avoiding outdoor activities during peak pollen times, keeping windows and doors closed to prevent pollen from entering the house, using air conditioning, and taking medications prescribed by a healthcare provider to relieve symptoms.
