The Babadook 2014

A neurotic widow and her son fall into a deep well of paranoia when an eerie children's book titled Mister Babadook manifests in their home.
There was an internet trend that believed the Babadook was a paedophile and even a group that identified with this Babadook, however, when examined on the matter they claimed the Babadook was homosexual (few would admit openly to child abuse), though this begs the question: if the Babadook is harassing a child and its sexuality is to the fore then as the victim is a child..? &c.
Seems this was mainly on Reddit, like most internet fads its origins are obscure and ephemeral.
