Karen Rucas and Marika Uda - Civil Engagement 12-20-23

Karen Rucas graduated from the University of Toronto in 1980 and has been an occupational therapist for 43 years. She previously owned and operated a medical/legal disability assessment company for 23 years. Karen has been actively involved with the CCCA since 2021 when she initiated and helped to author the CCCA’s Declaration paper in September 2021. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Pushback committee whose team has assumed the role of obtaining information and data through freedom of information requests both federally and provincially. Aside from her CCCA work, she has developed her own personal network with whom she shares information about the pandemic by way of a weekly e-blast; and Karen has also been active in her own letter writing campaign regarding the COVID-19 vaccines which she will tell you about today.

Mariko Uda, a CCCA member and Toronto resident, will share about her experience doing deputations (six so far) to the Toronto Board of Health and offer tips and encouragement for civic engagement.
