Uncover the latest controversy surrounding Tomb Raider I-III Remastered! Players have noticed that a pair of Lara Croft pinup posters were removed from Tomb Raider III: The Lost Artefact in the remastered version, while they remain intact in the original graphics version.
YouTuber Melonie Mac pointed out, “Those posters were in the original.” It remains unclear why the pinup posters were removed. The change seems to have occurred after the game’s second patch on April 11th. Despite various changes noted in the patch notes, the removal of the pinups was not mentioned.
The posters were also featured on the official Tomb Raider website as one of the ten remaster details players might have overlooked. The blog post explained, “There are two posters, original renders of Lara signed as Laura Cruz in Tomb Raider III’s The Lost Artifact expansion level, Sleeping with the Fishes. Initially, the character of Lara was named Laura Cruz, but the developers later decided to make her British and changed the name to Lara Croft.”
Aspyr, the game's developers, have officially acknowledged the mistake and confirmed that the posters will be restored in the next update. They stated, “In Patch 2, we made several texture and graphical updates to the HD version. As part of these updates, the posters in Sleeping With The Fishes (The Lost Artifact) were inadvertently removed in the HD version of the game. This has been resolved and these textures will be restored in Patch 3.”
