EASIEST STEAK & GRAVY - ANYONE CAN MAKE THIS

My mother's recipe - I made this for one of my sons so he'd have the recipe.
I use tri-tip steaks for this but any steak will do. Because it simmers for 90 minutes, you probably won't need a knife - you can cut this with a fork.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil (I use Olive Oil) to medium and brown steaks on both sides, lightly....just so they won't stick to the pan.
Then add one package of dry onion soup mix onto the steaks. Pour one undiluted can of cream of mushroom soup over the steaks. Cover, simmer on very low heat for 45 minutes.
Turn the steaks and scrape the bottom of the pan to make sure nothing is sticking. (I don't use nonstick cookware).
Then add potatoes or carrots if you'd like to.
Cover and simmer for another 45 minutes.
Plate it up and serve it. This is so tasty and so easy you can impress just about anyone with it and it takes almost no skill whatsoever. You can also do this with a flat roast in the oven, in which case you don't need to stir at all. Just add the vegetables at the beginning. This will also work in a crock pot. Enjoy...
