When i was starting 9th grade, electronic calculators were just coming into public usage. They had the LED, (red display) symbols. Oh, how I wanted one of those and a cool red led wrist-watch too.
My parents said "NO WAY" and surprisingly, so did The School System regarding the calculator! If you got caught with one you were immediately flunked for that entire semester.
