The barley for this bottling comes from a single farm on Bannow Island on the south-east coast of Ireland, where the harsh climate with salty Atlantic winds and sandy soils create a challenging terroir. In order to lose as little of the 'terroir' as possible, Waterford whisky is only distilled twice, unlike other Irish whiskeys. Aging takes place in first-filled bourbon casks (35%), fresh American white oak casks (20%) as well as French wine (25%) and sweet wine casks (20%).
