Janis Joplin- RARE Concert Footage-1969 Live in Frankfurt, Germany- Buckle up & Get the Bongs!
What a find! It IS 52 years old, after all! I was 10 years old when Janis & her band performed that year. I found an exact date for this footage under the original video description, but no images of them being there on that date were found: December 4, 1969. We were both living in Texas at the same time. My parents listened to her on the radio, but we didn't listen pay any attention until we were young teens. I NEVER saw her in concert. Those were no more better for kids in those days than the kids today at Travis Scott's concert.
I was paying attention to the shocking lack "crowd control" & "security". I saw very little to none. Janis brought fans right up on the stage. You'll notice all of the people were just feet away from her & there were NO barriers. I was shocked & scared on her behalf, not that it matters now since she's gone.
But it will go to show you that celebrities today have a whole other set of rules to go by. I should say, their MANAGERS & PROMOTERS. Still, it's not enough, is it!
The camera man must have felt like a fly in her face, he got so close. Janis graciously made several attempts to get the band filmed as well. She kept stepping back trying to give the hint. She had a BIG band including horns of all types.

I did, however, take MANY screen shots (about 45) to get a good one to create a photo. Janus was moving so much & fast that they came out really blurry. This was the best I could get it. The "groovy" concert logo is NOT mine, I could find no info.
I did all of the editing for the photo at this free online site: https://sharpen.imageonline.co/ (I added texts AFTER all of the other things at this free online site: https://www.visualwatermark.com/add-text-to-photos/ If you add the texts BEFORE, it gets covered up- I learned the hard way.) The photo was cropped, brightened, sharpened, lightened, contrast-adjusted, in addition to changing the exposure. Total time to do, including uploading the video? 12 hours. I researched the type of font that would have been used in 1969. I was trying to get it as authentic for the time as I could. It's called Aachen Bold, not that many content creators care. I did not find that font on ANY free text-to-photo sites.
Enough of the content creator share, enjoy the video! Dang, that woman could belt out some hits with her unusual style. I LOVE her! Rest in peace, Janis!
