Matt Walsh: What is a woman?
Dr. Grzanka: Why do you ask that question??
Matt Walsh: I'd just really like to know.
Dr. Grzanka: What do you think the answer to that question is?
Matt Walsh: Well, I'm asking, that's why I came to a college professor who is, ... this is what you do.
Dr. Grzanka: What other kinds of answers have you gotten?
Matt Walsh: Well, a lot of like this where you're not answering, so...
Dr. Grzanka: I think its interesting that a lot of people that have been interviewed have been reluctant to answer it, and I think that has a lot with how the questions that proceeded it and how you've conducted the interview.
Matt Walsh: How have I conducted myself?
Dr. Grzanka: How do you think you've conducted yourself?
Matt Walsh:You just really don't want to answer the questions do you?
Dr. Grzanka: I came today very willing and enthusiatic to answer questions about women's studies and sexuality.
Matt Walsh: What is a woman??
Dr. Grzanka: For me its actually a really simple answer, and that's 'a person who identifies as a woman'.
Walsh: But what are they identifying as??
Dr. Grzanka: As a woman.
Walsh: But what is that?
Dr. Grzanka: AS a woman.
Walsh: Do you know what a circular definition is?
Dr. Grzanka: I do.
Walsh: Its sort of what you're doing right now -- 'a woman is a woman'
Dr. Grzanka: Well, because you're seeking we would call in my field of work an essentialist definition of gender. I think it sounds like you would like me to give you a set of biological or cultural characteristics that are associated with one gender or another.
Walsh: I'm not seeking any type of defintion. I'm just seeking A definition.
Dr. Grzanka: Yeah, and I gave you one.
