If you pump up all asset prices with money printing and then tax that price appreciation, you are effectively confiscating everyone's savings, and blocking the only effective hedges against dollar devaluation.

Taxes are often rolled out first on the wealthy class, and then extended to the general population.

This is the greatest risk of taxing billionaires on their unrealized cap gains. It will eventually be extended to include your portfolio and your property as well, as the need for government funding keeps increasing.
