Mountain - Nantucket Sleighride, (To Owen Coffin)

A Nantucket sleighride was what the 19th century whalers referred to what happens when the men in a small boat would latch onto a harpooned whale and be dragged across the ocean in an extremely dangerous "sleighride". Owen Coffin was a teenager in 1819 who was on a whaling ship, the Essex, (Moby Dick is based on this true story), which was battered by an angry whale leaving the survivors afloat in boats on the sea until they started eating each other in order to survive. Poor Owen drew a short straw and was made into a meal for the few survivors. And you think you have it bad???
