WOODWORKING…MAKING A DEDICATED 45° CROSSCUT SLED.

As often is the case, crosscut sleds are almost a necessity if you are seeking accuracy and SAFETY. I made mine from scraps in my shop. Traditionally, I’ve used hard maple for my runners when making crosscut sleds . This time I am using a POLY board. ( usually called CUTTING BOARDS) from a big box store. Although maple is quite hard, I’ve found that in my basement shop, the humidity changes and increases in the summer often rendering my crosscut sled useless because of the wood runners swelling. Hopefully, the poly runners will eliminate this issue. Very simple to make and my version is quite adaptable if you want to change the size etc. the placement of the adjusting bolts makes it possible for me cut up to 1 1/2 inch thick boards, keep that in mind if you are cutting thicker material.
