Richmond VA has a street dedicated to large monuments highlighting local historic figures from the area. In the summer of 2020, this street's monuments were heavily defaced following the recent death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

By the time I got there, Stonewall Jackson (Confederate General) has already been removed as well as Jefferson Davis (President of the Confederate States resting in Hollywood cemetery in Richmond) and Matthew F Maury, the astronomer and oceanographer. Mr. Maury's nicknames included Father of Modern Oceanography and Naval Meteorology, Pathfinder of the Seas, and Scientist of the Seas.

On July 7th, JEB Stuart was removed.
On July 9th, the globe was removed from Mr. Maury's monument.
Robert E. Lee's monument is still waiting for removal and is the largest monument on the street.
