The N19 mono headset from the curiously named SKIUDCT company, is perhaps mainly designed for the business market. Priced at £29.99 before discounts - yes, there always discounts - has a well made and professional feel to it. Build quality throughout feels first rate and robust with nothing looking likely to fail or fall off anytime soon.
In the box, you receive the headset itself, a clip-fit storage case, 3 buds (one fitted) of different sizes, a rather short USB charging cable and a well written and easy to read user guide.
I was very pleased to see that this headset also features USB-C charging and the latest Bluetooth 5.3 wireless protocol, which shows this is a newly designed unit and not just old tech repackaged. Bluetooth 5 allows the headset to quickly and easily connect, increases battery life and the reception range to 20m as well as giving fewer dropouts and less signal interference.
Looking at the IP7 water resistant headset, which is fully adjustable and configurable to most ear and head shapes, along the top of the twin microphone stalk we see physical buttons for track control and volume adjustment. On the side are is the red/blue status LED and multifunction button for power, play/pause, call handling and phone personal assistant. On the top is the gromett protected USB-C charging port.
This headset has two ways to charge the 100 mAh Lithium Polymer headset battery. The headset can be slotted into the shaped recess inside the case and charged using the case battery. The case itself is charged through the USB-C port and it gives a digital readout of the current battery status. A fully charged 430 mAh case battery should be able to charge the headset four times from flat. The only issue I have with the case is that there is no provision to store the charging cable inside. The headset itself is equipped with a standard USB-C port and this can be used to charge if the case is not available.
Thanks to the use of the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology pairing to the phone is quick and easy, just pair to the 'N19' device when it shows in the phone's Bluetooth screen. Subsequent pairings will be transparent and automatic.
Call quality was excellent giving a clear distortion-free call with no dropouts or outages during my testing. Perhaps this is due to the ENC noise reduction technologies of the twin microphones or the use of the AptX and AAC codecs, but for whatever reason, call quality is excellent and one of the best I have encountered with this type of device.
So there it is. This is a quality piece of professional grade equipment well suited for use in the office or on the road.
The Good
