Meester Wizzard on Nano Diamond Battery, 3207
Good morning, I’m still reporting again on a possible new battery technology?
So a friend of mine wrote in concerning the Nano Diamond Battery technology. I saw the email very early this morning and braced for collision.
But no, he found it interesting and was generally supportive of the possibilities.
This guy works in the engineering field – let’s just say that. He is one of those guys who has a thirst for knowledge and reads voraciously. Obviously, he’s very successful.
I can go to him on most any topic I’m having trouble with and if he doesn’t know how it works, he will soon find out. He prefers his anonymity, so I have given him a nom de guerre - Mr. Wezzard.
Here is his take on the NDB battery concept.
I'm with you; until a prototype is tested, it is a hypothetical that shouldn't just be thrown out without consideration. SR-3204 already made it clear that a working prototype has not been constructed yet.
I'm not concerned with getting enough Carbon-14, as it was mentioned that the graphite rods are used in nuclear power plants for attenuating
the radiation heating from the uranium and plutonium. Nor am I concerned with manufacturing diamonds from carbon-14, as we don't call manufactured diamonds "diamonds", but rather "cubic
zirconium", which essentially has the same properties as diamond, but they were artificially created instead of "found" (mined) and "cut"
(shaped).
Nor am I concerned with the radiation of such things, as we already use
phosphors to absorb various radiation and convert it to useful light,
and we already use glass to filter out ultraviolet light from other
usable light.
But I do think there is an issue regarding the statement that it will
resolve the radioactive storage problem of "spent radioactive fuel" for
the fission power plants, as the major issue is the decayed uranium (or
plutonium)... not the graphite rods. Besides, the major issue with such power plants besides not being able to extend their life beyond about 80 years. Thereafter they have to be encased in concrete.
One thing we know for certain; the amount of extra carbon-14 we put in
the world atmosphere with the Marshall Islands above-ground nuke testing now allows us to date cells in all earthly lifeforms within a day, if not down to a few hours, due to the known decay of that extra carbon-14, and due to the
known increase in carbon 14 with each nuclear test.
And we still use tritium for self-powered exit lights/signs, to get people out of buildings safely, and to light hands on watches that aren't battery powered. So I don't think many will be complaining about self-contained concentrations of carbon-14 used for powering small
equipment. It may be too optimistic to be expecting to back-feed the
commercial power grid with these small batteries, but it seems ideal for
communication devices, computers, flashlights, and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.
Of course, for powering a house and cars, and backfeeding the grid, I
think we should be growing algae in containers on the roofs, with
bacteria to break it down into methane, then transfer the methane to
fuel cells to feed inverters to power the buildings and backfeed the
grid, and to have some of those fuel-cells able to be plugged directly
into the vehicles to directly provide DC power for running high efficiency motors with rare-earth ceramic permanent magnets. But as Honda is already working on Fuel Cell Technology for vehicles, we might
as well let Honda handle that portion of the research and development.
Anyway, I'm still intrigued about t he possibility of electronics usage
with carbon14 cubic zirconiums to provide high power density long life
power sources for small portable items.
So that’s the latest from Mr. Weezard. He’ll be checking in whenever he feels like it.
Well, we’ve only got 3 weeks to wait to see if Tesla has picked this up.
