Edit (ya ya) for headphones. I know, I know, yet another terrible video. Any better ideas?
I like the heavy bass. Great performance. And also: no sax-o-phone was used during this performance! This album sounds fabulous on your home stereo equipment.
From the live album "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!" released 4 September 1970 on Decca Records in the UK and on London Records in the US. Recorded on 27–28 November 1969 at New York City's Madison Square Garden, ("Love in Vain" was recorded in Baltimore, Maryland on 26 November 1969). On some tracks (backing) vocals have been added at the London Olympic studios.
Ian Stewart: piano. Mick Jagger: vocals. Bill Wyman: bass. Charlie Watts: drums. Mick Taylor: lead, rhytm and slide guitar. Keith Richards: lead, rythm guitar& backing vocals.
LIVE WITH ME
(Jagger/Richards)
I got nasty habits, I take tea at three
Yes, and the meat I eat for dinner
Must be hung up for a week
My best friend, he shoots water rats
And feeds them to his geese
Don'cha think there's a place for you
In between the sheets?
Come on now, honey
We can build a home for three
Come on now, honey
Don't you wanna live with me?
And there's a score of harebrained children
They're all locked in the nursery
They got earphone heads they got dirty necks
They're so 20th century
Well they queue up for the bathroom
'Round about 7:35
Don'cha think we need a woman's touch to make it come alive?
You'd look good pram pushing
Down the high street
Come on now, honey
Don't you wanna live with me?
Whoa, the servants they're so helpful, dear
The cook she is a whore
Yes, the butler has a place for her
Behind the pantry door
The maid, she's French, she's got no sense
She's from the Crazy Horse
And when she strips, the chauffeur flips
The footman's eyes get crossed
Don'cha think there's a place for us
Right across the street
Don'cha think there's a place for you,
In between the sheets?

Edit for headphones, January 2022. Nostalgia from Holland. A song of the 1969 album "After Tea" by the Dutch band "After Tea". In January 1968 it was in Holland a number 16 hit in the charts.
WE WILL BE THERE AFTER TEA
(Hans van Eijk/Ray Fenwick)
I'll take you to a place with mountains edged with lace
a place where we can find jellybeans and wine
we will drink from golden cups so very old
we can dance to time, chant verses that don't rhyme
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea
if thou will devour, one may eat a flower
on toast, a bean filled bun, held up before the sun
the bishop and the baker, the candlestick maker
danced around in line, danced around in time
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea
you may ride a horse, made of wood of course
the wooden horse of Troy in comparison a toy
the rabbit and the goldfish, a very tasty cold dish
eaten up today, eaten right away
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea
time for you and me, time for you and tea
time for (time for you and me, time for you and tea)
you and (time for you and me, time for you and tea)
me (time for you and me, time for you and tea)
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there you and me
watch now carefully follow me
we will be there after tea

Edit 2 for headphones, September 2021. Source file is from the cd "The Lovin' Spoonful Anthology" (Rhino Records R2 70944). This is a masterpiece from the sixties, a piece of art by John Sebastian and his friends, guitar player Zal Yanovsky, drummer-singer Joe Butler and bass player Steve Boone. Artie Schroeck did the arrangement for the strings and horns, he also played tambourine.
In 1967 it was for nine weeks in the Dutch charts, highest position 15. It was eight weeks in the US billboard top 100, peaked at 15. In Canada 8, UK 44. Australia 90. How retarded countries can be...
DARLING BE HOME SOON
(John Sebastian)
come, and talk of all the things we did today
here, and laugh about our funny little ways
while we have a few minutes to breathe
then I know that it's time you must leave
but darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
my darling be home soon
it's not just these few hours, but I've been waiting since I toddled
for the great relief of having you to talk to
and now, a quarter of my life is almost past
I think I've come to see myself at last
and I see that the time spent confused
was the time that I spent without you
and I feel myself in bloom
so darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
my darling be home soon
it's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
for the great relief of having you to talk to
so darling, my darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
my darling be home soon
it's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
for the great relief of having you to talk to
go, and beat your crazy head against the sky
try, and see beyond the houses and your eyes
it's okay to shoot the moon
darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
my darling be home soon
it's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
for the great relief of having you to talk to

NOT an edit. This one is unique. It is a Japanese remastered version. * Though this is just the regular mono version, it still is UNIQUE, for no other album has this mono sound. I can know it for I have over 40 albums with the song on it. The Japanese sure know how to deal with sound quality ! They have a bad attitude if it comes to dealing with whales. They also are not that good in nuclear plants in combination with earth quakes, but, man, they are sound specialists ! For a mono release it sounds stunningly good (though it is available in QUALITY stereo ** it still is mono on "GRRR!" (shame on you, Rolling Bones!). Many thanks to Ron whom I got the album from !
** The album is "Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass)", released April 25, 1989 - catalogue number P25L 25039. The same master was used for two other Japan only releases of the album: the May 1 1987 P33L 25016 and the February 25 1995 POCD-1919. The three albums all have the UK tracklist and the nine "stereo transcription" songs.
* a perfect stereo version is song 13 on volume 7 of the album "The Rolling Stones - Unsurpassed Masters". The title of the song is "19th Nervous Breakdown (Stereo Mix - Master Vocal)".
Song's recording date: December 3 - 8 1965. First Release: single, February 4, 1966. Album "Big hits (high tide and green grass)", US April 2 1966, UK November 4 1966.
Electric guitar: Brian Jones. Lead vocal: Mick Jagger. Electric guitar & background vocal: Keith Richards. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts.

SUMMER IN THE CITY
(John Sebastian, Mark Sebastian, Steve Boone)
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty 'n gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity?
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat, it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity?
If the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Cool town, evening in the city
Dressed so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat, it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity?
If the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Hot town, summer in the city

Edit 3 for headphones. With Brian's guitar work clearer & louder. Recorded 3-8 December 1965 and 6-9 March 1966 in the RCA Studios in Hollywood, California. Released on "Aftermath" in April 1966 (June in the US), that is "Aftermath" the legendary album you cannot do without... it was eight weeks at no. 1 on the UK album charts.
Organ: Brian Jones. Electric guitars: Brian Jones (the opening guitar part and that same guitar sound throughout the entire song, says Bill Wyman) & Keith Richards (rhythm guitar). Lead vocals: Mick Jagger. Drums: Charlie Watts . Fuzz bass: Bill Wyman. Background vocals: Mick Jagger & Keith Richards.
Main engineer: Dave Hassinger. Hurray for Dave Hassinger. Nobel prize worthy for engineering the Rolling Stones' best album ever. And for introducing the "exotic" instruments!!!
Bill Wyman mentioned that the main engineer for the album was essential, for he made the group feel comfortable during the sessions as he, according to Wyman, let them experiment with instrumentals and teaming up with session musicians like Jack Nitzsche to variegate their sound. Wyman also stated that he and Brian Jones would pick up instruments that were in the studio and experiment with various sounds for each song.
Brian Jones was very important in shaping the album's tone and arrangements, as he experimented with a vast array of ethnic instruments such as the marimba, sitar, Appalachian dulcimer and organ, which contrasted with the folk, pop, country, blues and rock compositions, thus resulting in a diverse mix of musical styles.
If you don't have the album "Aftermath", and particularly the vinyl album, then I doubt if you are a true Rolling Stones fan. Yes, you like their music, but "Aftermath" and "Flowers" are your big question marks. Well, do something about it, buy 'm and get used to 'm, listen to 'm with headphones (like the ones I advice in my channel's tab "About"), and gradually you'll find out they are their best... trust me on that... (and "Between The Buttons")(and all the previous albums)(and all the albums until 1969). (It all went downhill when they added a saxophone player to the band... worst decision ever.)(The man is not playing, he is farthing, sorry, that's the impression I get when I hear that sax.)(dot)
IT'S NOT EASY
(Jagger/Richards)
it's not easy... it's not easy living on your own
it's not easy... it's not easy living on your own
and it's hard (it's not easy)
and it's hard (it's not easy)
and it's a pretty hard baby (it's not easy)
it's not easy living on your own
all of the things that you used to do
if they're done now, well they're done by you
it seems a big failin' in a man
to take his girl for granted if he can
and it's a hard babe (it's not easy)
and it's a hard (it's not easy)
and it's a pretty hard babe (it's not easy)
it's not easy livin' on your own
there's no place where you can call home
got me running like a cat in a thunderstorm
Edit for headphones. Source file is from "Face To Face" (2011 deluxe edition).
In October 1966 the single reached #1 in Germany, #2 in Belgium and #3 in the Netherlands. Uk and US were asleep. An early winter's sleep...
The song is about Ray's brother Dave.
DANDY
(Ray Davies)
Dandy, Dandy
Where you gonna go now?
Who you gonna run to?
All you life
You're chasing all the girls,
They can't resist your smile.
Oh, they long for Dandy, Dandy.
Checkin' out the ladies,
Tickling their fancy,
Pouring out your charm
To meet all your own demands,
And turn it off at will.
Oh, they long for Dandy, Dandy.
Knockin' on the back door,
Climbing through the window,
Hubby's gone away,
And while the cat's away,
The mice are gonna play.
Oh, you low down Dandy, Dandy.
Dandy
Dandy you know you're moving much too fast,
And Dandy, you know you can't escape the past.
Look around you and see the people settle down,
And when you're old and grey you will remember what they said,
That two girls are too many, three's a crowd and four you're dead.
Oh Dandy, Dandy,
When you gonna give up?
Are you feeling old now?
You always will be free,
You need no sympathy,
A bachelor you will stay,
And Dandy, you're all right.
You're all right.
You're all right.
You're all right.
You're all right.
You're all right.

Edit 2 (live tami) for headphones, January 2021. The Rolling Stones live performance live at the T.A.M.I. Show, October 29, 1964.
T.A.M.I. Show is a 1964 concert film, released by American International Pictures. It includes performances by numerous popular rock and roll and R&B musicians from the United States and England. It is considered one of the seminal events in the pioneering of music films and, more importantly, the later concept of music videos.
The concert was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964.
T.A.M.I. is: Teen Age Music International.
The official release of "Off The Hook" was recorded June 24-26, 1964 and was the b-side to "Little Red Rooster", released November 13, 1964. Also released on the second UK studio album: "The Rolling Stones no. 2", January 15, 1965 and on the third US studio album: "The Rolling Stones, Now!", February 13, 1965.
Electric guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Lead & background vocals: Mick Jagger. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman.
OFF THE HOOK
(Nanker/ Phelge/Jagger/Richards)
(these are the lyrics of the live version)
sittin' in my bedroom late last night
got into bed and turned out the light
I tried to call my baby on the telephone
all I got was an engaged tone
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
talkin' so long she upset my mind
why is she talkin' such a long time?
* back into bed started reading my books
* take my phone right off of the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
don't wanna see her, afraid of what I find
I'm tired of letting her upset me all the time
back into bed started reading my books
I take my phone right off of the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
it's off the hook
* Jagger sings the wrong lines here, the lines should have been:
maybe she's sleeping, maybe she's ill
phone's disconnected, unpaid bill

DEDICATED FOLLOWER OF FASHION
(Raymond Douglas Davies)
they seek him here, they seek him there
his clothes are loud, but never square
it will make or break him so he's got to buy the best
'cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion
and when he does, his little round
'round the boutiques,of London Town
eagerly pursuing all the latest fads and trends
'cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion
oh yes he is, oh yes he is
he thinks he is a flower to be looked at
and when he pulls his frilly nylon panties right up tight
he feels a dedicated follower of fashion
oh yes he is, oh yes he is
there's one thing that he loves and that is flattery
one week he's in polka-dots, the next week he is in stripes
'cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion
they seek him here, they seek him there
in Regent Street, and Leicester Square
everywhere the Carnabetian army marches on
each one a dedicated follower of fashion
oh yes he is, oh yes he is
his world is built 'round discotheques and parties
this pleasure-seeking individual always looks his best
'cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion
oh yes he is, oh yes he is
he flits from shop to shop just like a butterfly
in matters of the cloth he is as fickle as can be
'cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion
he's a dedicated follower of fashion?
he's a dedicated follower of fashion!

I'll break big in New Orleans
and I'll overspill in Caroline
parachute woman, join me for a ride
parachute woman, join me for a ride
I'll make my blow in Dallas

VICTORIA
(Ray Davies)
long ago life was clean
sex was bad, called obscene
and the rich were so mean
stately homes for the Lords
croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
I was born, lucky me
in a land that I love
though I am poor, I am free
when I grow I shall fight
for this land I shall die
let her sun never set
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
land of hope and gloria
land of my Victoria
land of hope and gloria
land of my Victoria
Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Canada to India
Australia to Cornwall
Singapore to Hong Kong
from the West to the East
from to the rich to the poor
Victoria loved them all

Edit 1b for headphones. Dubbed video. New video. Stunning video footage IN COLOR ! Brian in his famous red pants. Keith in serious pink.
Source of the edit is the song of the album "Got live if you want it!" London records. (This album's version has the band at the left, with a tiny little echo at the right. Mick in the middle, audience screaming at the right.) The mix is so bad that the Japanese edition of this album is mono.
I changed it a bit, hope you like it, enjoy.
Recording date of the studio version: December 3-8, 1965. First release: single, February 4, 1966. Some months later released on the album "Big hits (high tide and green grass)", US april 2, 1966, UK November 4, 1966.

edit for headphones. the official 1966 release is mono, source file of this edit is from the album "something else by the kinks" (2011 2cd deluxe edition), listed on cd 2 as "mr. pleasant [alternate] [stereo bonus track]". It was a #2 hit in holland, #3 in belgium, #12 in germany, #35 in australia, #79 in canada and #80 in the us. it was not released as a single in the uk, it was the b-side to "autumn almanac" in 1967
on the deluxe album this alternate version has piano at the outter right, Ray in the middle, guitar, bass and drums outter left. and that's a bit strange, it seems they didn't take any time to mix the studio recording tracks properly, or it is that the seperated tracks are lost?
MISTER PLEASANT
(Ray Davies)
Oh Mr Pleasant, how is Mrs Pleasant?
I hope the world is treating you right,
And your head's in the air,
And you're feeling so proud,
'Cause you're such a success,
And the whole wide world is on your side, hey hey.
How are you today?
People say Mr Pleasant is good,
Mr Pleasant is kind,
Mr Pleasant's okay,
Mr Pleasant don't mind.
As long as Mr Pleasant's all right, hey hey.
How are you today?
How's your father, how's your mother?
How's your sister, how's your brother?
How's your brand, new limousine,
Twenty-four inch TV screen?
Did you like prosperity
More than you liked poverty?
Life is easier, so much easier,
Life is easier now.
Oh Mr Pleasant, how is Mrs Pleasant?
Did you know she was flirting around
With another young man,
And he's taking her out
When you have to work late?
And it's not so pleasant after all, hey hey.
How are you today?
People say Mr Pleasant is good,
Mr Pleasant is kind,
Mr Pleasant's okay,
Mr Pleasant don't mind.
As long as Mr Pleasant's all right, hey hey.
How are you today?
Mr Pleasant is good,
Mr Pleasant is kind,
Mr Pleasant's okay.

Edit 2 (extra accordion) for headphones. Dubbed video. There's a lot of noise in the official cd releases of this song. I removed the noise as much as possible, used a trick of my own for that too, and added some extra accordion here and there. Enjoy. Oh, I created some less channel separation too. More the way the needle in a vinyl groove does its job...
From the UK album "Between the buttons" (January 20, 1967) and the US album "Flowers" (July 15, 1967).
Harpsichord and vibraphone (or marimba/xylophone/celeste/glockenspie l*): Brian Jones. Accordion: Nick de Caro.** Acoustic guitar: Keith Richards. Harpsichord: Jack Nitzsche. Bass: Bill Wyman. Percussion: Charlie Watts. Vocal: Mick Jagger.
BACKSTREET GIRL
(Jagger/Richards)
I don't want you to be high
I don't want you to be down
Don't want to tell you no lie
Just want you to be around
Please come right up to my ears
You will be able to hear what I say
Don't want you out in my world
Just you be my backstreet girl
Please don't be part of my life
Please keep yourself to yourself
Please don't you bother my wife
That way you won't get no help
Don't try to ride on my horse
You're rather common and coarse anyway
Don't want you out in my world
Just you be my backstreet girl
Please don't you call me at home
Please don't come knocking at night
Please never ring on the phone
Your manners are never quite right
Please take the favors I grant
Curtsy and look nonchalant, just for me
Don't want you part of my world
Just you be my backstreet girl
Just you be my backstreet girl

* There's much discussion on which of these five instruments was used on the intro en further on in the song. I chose one of the the iorr.org forum members opinion:
It sounds like a vibraphone(or something similar) played higher up it's register with echo/reverb, hence the airy sound after the initial percussive strike to each note.
** It was the suggestion of Jack Nitzsche to engage Nick de Caro to play the accordion part. Nick was an established LA arranger for people like Sonny & Cher and many more.

KIND WOMAN
(Richie Furay)
got a good reason for loving you
it's an old fashioned sign
I kinda get the feelin' like mmm you know when
I fell in love the first time
kind woman
won't you love me tonight
the look in your eyes
kind woman
don't leave me lonely tonight
please say it's all right
remember once before hearing
the old folks say
love's an ageless old rhyme
but nowadays you know the sayin' depends so much on
the kind of woman that you find
kind woman
won't you love me tonight?
the look in your eyes
kind woman
don't leave me lonely tonight
aah you're sayin' it's all right
kind woman
won't you love me tonight?
the look in your eyes
kind woman
don't leave me lonely tonight
please say it's all right

Mellotron: Brian Jones. Guitars: Keith Richards. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman. Maracas: Mick Jagger.
(On the original release: backing vocals by Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg.)
The Mellotron uses analogue samples, recorded on audio tape.
The British musicians' union tried to get the Mellotron banned.
They were concerned that it would be used to replace session players.
Now that is an example of pure narrow mindedness, nearly backwardness...
In the USA some unions were (are?) lead by the maffia.
The unions world wide have proved to be good, but their major, I write MAJOR downside is: they keep asking for higher wages.
Sure yeah, we all want higher wages, but look where it has led to: life for the common man keeps getting harder, for we ALL pay for those higher wages.
And where has it also led too? Factories closing down and moving to low income countries... so that we now have to import most of our goods from China, with its backward, narrow minded, totalitarian regime, trying to rule the world...
Is there more? Yes, there is more: that backward, narrow minded, totalitarian Chinese regime imprisoned the medical doctors who gave early warnings about the corona virus, a very stupid way of trying to maintain their facade of false slimy laughing friendly faces of "everything is okay here"... a dangerous killer ! regime, responsible for the death of more than two million people (Covid numbers on January 15, 2021) ! ! ! And another three exclamation marks ! ! ! And yeah, the sports people just don't care, just like in Hitler Germany in the thirties... what a shame...

COMPLICATED LIFE
(Ray Davies)
well I woke this morning with a pain in my neck
a pain in my heart and a pain in my chest
I went to the doctor and the good doctor said
you gotta slow down your life or you're gonna be dead
cut out the struggle and strife
it only complicates your life
well I cut down women, I cut down booze
I stopped ironing my shirts, cleaning my shoes
I stopped going to work, stopped reading the news
I sit and twiddle my thumbs cos I got nothing to do
minimal exercise
to help uncomplicate my life
gotta stand and face it life is so complicated
ladi dah di dahdah, ladi dah di dah dah
you gotta get away from the complicated life, son
life is overrated, life is complicated
must alleviate this complicated life
cut out the struggle and strife
it's such a complicated life
like old mother Hubbard
I got nothin' in the cupboard
got no dinner and I got no supper
holes in my shoes, I got holes in my socks
I can't go to work cos I can't get a job
the bills are rising sky high
it's such a complicated life
gotta stand and face it
life is so complicated
ladi dah di dahdah, ladi dah di dah dah
gotta get away from the complicated life, son
life is overrated, life is complicated
must alleviate this complicated life
ladi dah di dahdah - life is overrated
ladi dah di dah dah - life is complicated
gotta get away from - gotta get away
this complicated life, son
life is overrated, life is complicated
must alleviate this complicated life
gotta get away from the complicated life, son
gotta get away from the complicated life

Edit for headphones. Recorded September 6 & 7, 1965. Released on "Out Of Our Heads" (UK) and "December's Children" (US) in 1965. Guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Lead & backing vocals: Mick Jagger. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Tambourine: James W. Alexander.*
Allmusic song review by Matthew Greenwald says it's a great example of the Jagger/Richards songwriting team's growth, the song showcased their love of soul music (particularly Otis Redding) and their ability to weld (connect) this with their own rock style. The main guitar riff and overall feel is quite similar to "I'm Free," which also appeared on "December's Children". Assessing (evaluating) a relationship during its final stages, the absence of malice (hate) - which is usually at the core of the Stones' lyrics in this type of song - is refreshing. A sense of resignation (acceptance) takes the lyrics away from the juvenile arena here, and this is underlined by Mick Jagger's fine vocal, one of his best on the album.
* JAMES W. ALEXANDER (1916-1996)
Mississippi-born Alexander was an all-around session musician (bassist, guitarist, singer, drummer and percussionist) and producer who recorded extensively with 1960s and 1970s soul artists, such as Sam Cooke.
GOTTA GET AWAY
(Jagger/Richards)
baby, the truth is out so don't deny
baby to think I believed all your lies
darlin' I can't stand to see your face
it's the truth, you understand
I got to get away, got to get away
gotta, gotta, gotta get away
got to get away
baby, I don't want to live here no more
baby, though I tore your pictures off my walls
darlin' this old room's falling in on me
you understand the truth now
I got to get away, got to get away
gotta, gotta, gotta get away
got to get away
baby, oh, how could you take away your clothes
baby, don't screw up this old heart of gold
darling, this will rule my social flare
you understand me now
I got to get away, got to get away
gotta, gotta, gotta get away
got to get away

GOD'S CHILDREN
(Ray Davies)
man made the buildings that reach for the sky
and man made the motorcar and learned how to drive
but he didn't make the flowers and he didn't make the trees
and he didn't make you and he didn't make me
and he got no right to turn us into machines
no, he's got no right at all
cause we are all God's children
and he got no right to change us
oh, we gotta go back the way the good Lord made us all
don't want this world to change me
I wanna go back the way the good Lord made me
same lungs that he gave me to breath with
same eyes he gave me to see with
oh, the rich man, the poor man, the saint and the sinner
the wise man, the simpleton, the loser and the winner
we are all the same to Him
stripped of our clothes and all the things we own
ah, the day that we are born
we are all God's children
and they got no right to change us
oh, we gotta go back, the way the good Lord made
oh, the good Lord made us all
and we are all his children
and they got no right to change us
oh, we gotta go back the way the good Lord made us all
yeah, we gotta go back the way the good Lord made us all
Not an edit. This one is unique. It is from a Japanese release.* Though this is just the regular mono version, it still is UNIQUE, for no other album has this mono sound. The Japanese sure know how to deal with sound quality!
* The album is "Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass)", released April 25, 1989 - catalogue number P25L 25039. The same master was used for two other Japan only releases of the album: the May 1 1987 P33L 25016 and the February 25 1995 POCD-1919. The three albums all have the UK tracklist and the nine "stereo transcription" songs. **
Recorded January 11 & 12, 1965. Released as a US single on March 13, 1965. Also released on "Out Of Our Heads" in 1965.
Lead electric guitar: Brian Jones. Lead vocals: Mick Jagger. Rhythm guitar (& solo): Keith Richards. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Backing vocals: Keith Richards & Bill Wyman.
** This is the first compilation album by the Rolling Stones. With different cover art and track listings, it was released on 28 March 1966, on London Records in the US and on 4 November 1966, by Decca Records in the UK.
The American edition focused on songs from 1964 and 1965 with two new tunes: the recent "19th Nervous Breakdown" and the re-recorded "Time Is on My Side" with the guitar intro. The British version covered a longer period, from the group's first single A-side in 1963, "Come On", to several songs from 1966, including the recent hit "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?".
The album reached number three on the US Billboard 200[1] and number four on the UK Albums Chart.[2] It remained on the chart 99 weeks in the US, where the RIAA certified the album double platinum, signifying over two million copies sold.
THE LAST TIME
(Jagger/Richards)
well I told you once and I told you twice,
but ya never listen to my advice, yYou don't try very hard to please me ,
with what you know it should be easy.
well this could be the last time,
this could be the last time,
maybe the last time,
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no.
well, I'm sorry girl but I can't stay,
feelin' like I do today,
there's too much pain and too much sorrow,
cause I'll feel the same tomorrow.
well this could be the last time,
this could be the last time,
maybe the last time,
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no.
well this could be the last time,
this could be the last time,
maybe the last time,
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no.
well I told you once and I told you twice,
a'someone have to pay the price,
a'here's a chance to change your mind,
'caus I'll be gone a long, long time.
well this could be the last time,
this could be the last time,
maybe the last time,
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no
last time baby
I see you no more, well a'not no more,
well a'not no more, well a'not no more,
no, no no more, no no no more...

Edit for headphones. I like this version better, for the guitar solo on the regular version is quite 'maladroit'.
On March 26th 1967 the Byrds released their cover of Bob Dylan's "My Back Pages". It entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #86; five weeks later on April 30th, 1967 it would peak at #30 for one week and spent seven weeks on the Top 100... Bob Dylan wrote "My Back Pages" in 1964 as (one of) the last songs for his album "Another Side of Bob Dylan". The song is partly based on the traditional folk song "Young But Growing". The song is on The Byrds' 1967 album "Younger Than Yesterday" [Remastered].
Here is the song by the crême de la crême of pop music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Df39PjkwA
MY BACK PAGES
(Robert Allen Zimmerman (Duluth, Minnesota, May 24, 1941))
crimson flames tied through my ears
throwin' high and mighty traps
countless fire and flaming road
using ideas as my maps
"we'll meet on edges, soon," said I
proud 'neath heated brow.
ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.
half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"rip down all hate," I screamed
lies that life is black and white
spoke from my skull, I dreamed
romantic flanks of musketeers
foundation deep, somehow
oh, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.
in a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
at the mongrel dogs who teach
fearing not I'd become my enemy
in the instant that I preach
my pathway led by confusion boats
mutiny from stern to bow.
ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now
my guard stood hard when abstract threats
too noble to neglect
deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
good and bad, I define these terms
quite clear, no doubt, somehow.
oh, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now

Edit for headphones, March 2022. Source is "Gomper part 1 (Take 2) (Olympic Sound Studios, London 10_08 to 7_09_67)" on the eight cd bootleg box set "Studio Outtakes & Rarities Vol. 3.2 Remastered By Teague Raw". This session is 3½ minutes longer than the final album release. I like this instrumental take, because the flute is not in it. However, it lacks Brian Jones' mellotron, which gives the official release its magic atmosphere.
The official ABKCO video with nice art, based upon the album sleeve, is here: https://youtu.be/iVUJLt6LMqM
GOMPER
(Jagger/Richards)
by the lake with lilly flowers
'while away the evening hours
to and fro she's gently gliding
on the glassy lake she's riding
she swims to the side
the sun sees her dried
the birds hover high
I'd stifle a cry
the birds hover high
she moans with a sigh

Edit (flashpoint) for headphones. From the great album "Flashpoint", the album with the boring sleeve, but with the great live performances... Especially "Ruby Tuesday" was a stunning performance. The lyrics were written by Brian Jones & Keith Richards, with the music written by Brian Jones, but he was never credited.*
This one is from the live cd "Flashpoint", recorded live 1989-1990 during the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle world tour.
The single and album version was recorded in November & December, 1966. Released as a US single on January 13, 1967 and went to # 1 on the charts. Released as a double A side single in the UK also on January 13, 1967, reaching # 3. Released in the US on the album "Between The Buttons" on February 11, 1967.
Recorder & piano: Brian Jones. Vocal harmony: Brian Jones and Keith Richards. Vocals, backing vocals & tambourine: Mick Jagger. Acoustic guitar: Keith Richards. Cello, bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Jack Nitzsche: piano. Double bass: Keith Richards (bowing strings), Bill Wyman (fingers on fingerboard).
RUBY TUESDAY
(Brian Jones/Keith Richards)
she would never say where she came from
yesterday don't matter if it's gone
while the sun is bright
or in the darkest night
no one knows
she comes and goes
goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
who could hang a name on you?
when you change with every new day
still I'm gonna miss you...
don't question why she needs to be so free
she'll tell you it's the only way to be
she just can't be chained
to a life where nothing's gained
and nothing's lost
at such a cost
there's no time to lose, I heard her say
cash your dreams before they slip away
dying all the time
lose your dreams
and you will lose your mind.
ain't life unkind?
goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
who could hang a name on you?
when you change with every new day
still I'm gonna miss you...

According to Mick Jagger: “That’s a wonderful song,” “It’s just a nice melody, really. And a lovely lyric. Neither of which I wrote, but I always enjoy singing it.” as told to Jann Wenner in 1995.
It’s safe to say that Brian Jones has composed the melody. Or at least, the major idea of it. On the other hand, Keith was probably the one to compose the lyrics or most part of it. They were both missing Linda Keith, that’s basically the inspiration to the song, by the way.
Marianne Faithfull has stated the same:
“I think in Brian’s state writing a song probably wasn’t possible. He could only do it through another medium, through Keith. I guess the closest he came to it was ‘Ruby Tuesday’, where his melancholy recorder wistfully carries that sense of irretrievable loss. ‘Ruby Tuesday’ was a collaboration between Keith and Brian. it’s one of the few cases where Mic
