stereo remixes and processed 'stereo' edits of music of the sixties & the one and only... Rolling Stones
Edit (extended) for headphones.
From the bootleg "50 years Of Dirty Work".
A June 24-26, 1964 recording, Regent Sound Studios, London.
This is the extended version I made, just to keep you from restarting this video, for your convenience.
This is just a part of the recording, the rest probably is lost, I'm afraid...

the rolling stones - you got the silver (mick & keith versions combined by stonyroad) - stereo remix
Edit for headphones, March 2021, for brighter sound & more bass. Too much bass. Distortion all over... Source file of this edit is from a Frankenstein bootleg, which says: "This is a Frankenstein Christmas gift, a little gift to celebrate Christmas, in the pure Frankenstein tradition, a mix of Keith & Mick's voices on two tracks they have interpreted.
Wishing you all happy holidays and long life to the Stones, by Norbert (aka StonyRoad)."
This song is on the bootleg "Mick & Keith Mixing Voices: A Little Gift For Xmas 2019!" (Frankenstein Production - xmas2019).
I tell you: what has been done is ultra difficult, a warm thank you to Norbert for an outstanding editing job !

YOU GOT THE SILVER
(Jagger/Richards)
hey babe, what's in your eyes?
I saw them flashing like airplane lights
you fill my cup, babe, that's for sure
I must come back for a little more
you got my heart you got my soul
you got the silver you got the gold
you got the diamonds from the mine
well that's all right, it'll buy some time
tell me, honey, what will I do
when I'm hungry and thirsty too
feeling foolish, and that's for sure
just waiting here at your kitchen door?
hey baby, what's in your eyes?
is that the diamonds from the mine?
what's that laughing in your smile?
I don't care, no, I don't care
oh babe, you got my soul
you got the silver, you got the gold
it's just your love, just leave me blind
I don't care, no, that's no big surprise

Edit (ext. 2.44) for headphones. Extended version II, extended from 1.35 to 2.44 minutes. The performance was not real live, all dubbed.
Recorded September 6 & 7, 1965. Released on the albums "Out Of Our Heads" (UK) and "December's Children (and everybody's)" (US) in 1965.
Weaving electric guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Background vocals: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Lead vocal: Mick Jagger. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts.
No sounds were added to create the "stereo" sound.
Yes, it was a lot of editing, most difficult part is getting Mick Jagger's lips synchronised with the lyrics. Which didn't go that well, as you may have noticed...
* Some people make the mistake to add sounds - for instance they add the sound of themselves playing guitar - to create a stereo effect . That is the same as painting an onion red and then tell people they are eating an apple...

From the Purple Chick bootleg album "Please Please Me" Deluxe edition Volume 1 (PC-102). The Professor Stoned 2022 remix: https://www.bitchute.com/video/QntWmPofH0Yc/ is far far better, sorry Purple Chick people... And if something unexpected happens with the channel that song is on, then the song is here too: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19rcl7VNasxLLiklT9DQ7GISVU3q3aCYZ/view?usp=sharing
Edit (live) for headphones. This stereo version is on various bootleg albums for many years already, and just recently on the deluxe version of "Grrr". No babbling host, so yet another "hostless" edition.
This song was recorded live at Camden Theatre, London, March 19, 1964 during an experimental "stereo" tv broadcast by the BBC, one channel on mono tv, the other channel on mono radio to get a stereo sound.
Lead guitar: Brian Jones.* Rhythm guitar: Keith Richards. Vocals & percussion: Mick Jagger. Drums & percussion: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman.
* Keith Richards: "I've never heard anybody, before or since, get that Bo Diddley thing down. Diddley himself was astounded, saying that Brian Jones was the only cat he knew who'd worked out the secret of it."
MONA (I Need You Baby)
(Ellas McDaniel, stage name Bo Diddley, real name Ellas Otha Bates)(released April 1957)
I say hey, Mona
Oh, Mona
I say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Mona
Oh, Mona
I tell you Mona what I wanna do
I'll build a house next door to you
Can I see you sometimes?
We can blow kisses through the blinds
Yeah can I out come out on the front
And listen to my heart go bumpety bump
I need you baby that's no lie
Without your love I'd surely die
I say hey, Mona
Oh, Mona
I say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Mona
Oh, Mona
I say hey, hey Mona
Oh, Mona
I say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Mona
Oh, Mona
I tell you Mona what I wanna do
I'm gonna build a house next door to you
Can I see you sometime?
We can blow kisses through the blinds
Yeah can I out come out on the front
And listen to my heart go bumpety bump

Edit for headphones. Just some more bass* on this one, from their great January 1970 album "Bridge over troubled water" (2007 remastered). The album charted #1 in Holland, USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, France, Norway and Japan. #34 in Italy (the downside of spaghetti), #70 in Spain, too busy fighting bulls.
Songfacts dot com says: Paul Simon wrote this song about his partner Art Garfunkel going to Mexico to act in a movie called Catch-22, which was directed by Mike Nichols, who gave Simon & Garfunkel a big boost when he featured their songs in his 1967 film The Graduate. Simon was also going to be in the film, but Nichols cut his part, which separated the duo. Garfunkel spent months working on the film while Simon returned to New York, where he toiled away on the Bridge Over Troubled Water album. He expresses his frustration in this song: "Here I am, the only living boy in New York."
Simon sent letters to keep in touch with Garfunkel and update him on the album's progress. Up to that point, the pair had always partnered musically and shared a bond, which was now breaking. Simon & Garfunkel split up after the album was released; Paul recorded as a solo artist, and Art pursued his acting career.
Regarding the lyrics, "Tom get your plane right on time. I know that your eager to fly now," before the folk duo became famous, they were known as Tom and Jerry. Tom was Art's stage name, so this line symbolizes their increasing need for musical and personal freedom.
Bass: Joe Osborn**
THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK
(Paul Simon)
Tom, get your plane right on time
I know your part'll go fine
fly down to Mexico
do-n-do-d-do-n-do and here I am,
the only living boy in New York
I get the news I need on the weather report
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report
hey, I've got nothing to do today but smile
do-n-doh-d-doh-n-doh and here I am
the only living boy in New York
half of the time we're gone
but we don't know where,
and we don't know where
half of the time we're gone
but we don't know where,
and we don't know where
Tom, get your plane right on time
I know you've been eager to fly now
hey let your honesty shine, shine, shine now
do-n-do-d-do-n-do
like it shines on me
the only living boy in New York,
the only living boy in New York

Edit 2 for headphones. Dubbed video. Now this is what we'd like them to perform in their shows. This video makes it easier to imagine...
Recorded November 2 & 3, 1964. Released in the UK and in the US on "Out Of Our Heads", 1965.
Guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Lead & backing vocals: Mick Jagger. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman.

HITCH HIKE
(Marvin Gaye/ William "Mickey" Stevenson/Clarence Paul)
I'm going to Chicago that's the last place my baby stayed
I'm packing up my bags I'm gonna leave this town right away
I'm gonna find that girl if I have to hitch hike around the world
"Chicago City" that's what the sign on the freeway read
I'm gonna keep on going 'til I get to that street's called 6th and Main
I've gotta find that girl if I have to hitch hike around the world
c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike children
hitch hike
hitch hike baby
hitch hike
hitch hike baby
c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike darling
I'm going to St. Louis but my next stop just might be L.A., that's what I say
I got no money in my pocket so i'm going to have to hitch hike all the way
I'm gonna find that girl if i have to hitch hike around the world
c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike children
hitch hike
hitch hike baby
hitch hike
Hitch hike baby
c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike children
Now c'mon c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike children
hitch hike
hitch hike darling
c'mon hitch hike
hitch hike children
hitch hike hitch hike
hitch hike baby

Edit for headphones. Written (it took him only a few hours) and recorded by John Denver in 1966 as a member of the Chad Mitchell Trio, the song was released as a single in 1969 by Peter, Paul and Mary and it became a # 1 hit in the US. John started his solo career in the seventies, recorded his own version for his debut solo album "Rhymes & Reasons" and re-recorded the song in 1973 for "John Denver's Greatest Hits". This one is from his 2 cd album "The Essential John Denver", which I think is by far the best version.
LEAVING ON A JET PLANE (original title: Babe, I hate to go)
(John Denver)
All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside the door
I hate to wake you up, to say goodbye
But the dawn is breaking
it's early mor'n
and the taxi is waiting he has blown his horn
already I'm so lonesome I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
tell me that you'll wait for me
hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jetplane
don't know when I'll be back again
oh babe I hate to go
There are so many times I let you down
so many times I played around
I tell you now they don't mean a thing
Every place I go I think of you
every song I sing I sing for you
when I come back I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
tell me that you'll wait for me
hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jetplane
don't know when I'll be back again
oh babe I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
one more time let me kiss you
and close your eyes I'll be on my way
dream about the days to come
when I wont have to leave alone
about the times I won't have to say
Oh kiss me and smile for me
tell me that you'll wait for me
hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jetplane
don't know when I'll be back again
oh babe I hate to go
I'm leaving on a jetplane
don't know when I'll be back again
oh babe I hate to go.

Edit 1b for headphones. "I'm free" was recorded september 6 & 7, 1965, RCA Studios, Los Angeles, USA. Released on "Out Of Our Heads" (third UK album) and "December's Children (And Everybody's)" (fifth US album) in 1965. Buy this song or those albums, a lot of people need our support in these hard times. And if you're out of money in these hard times, take some comfort on this video and its music... don't say I was scanty with photos... one hundred and seventeen, to be precise...
Organ: Brian Jones. Electric guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Lead & backing vocals: Mick Jagger. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Tambourine: James W. Alexander (Mississippi-born Alexander was an all-around session musician - bassist, guitarist, singer, drummer and percussionist - and producer who recorded extensively with 1960s and 1970s soul artists, such as Sam Cooke)(but, yes, there's a but: Alexander is out of rhythm at 1.30)(but in the end... everybody has a butt).
I'M FREE
(Jagger/Richards)
I'm free to do what I want any old time
I'm free to do what I want any old time
so love me, hold me, love me, hold me
I'm free any old time to get what I want
I'm free to sing my song though it gets out of time
I'm free to sing my song though it gets out of time
so love me, hold me, love me, hold me
and I'm free any old time to get what I want
love me, hold me, love me, hold me
but I'm free any old time to get what I want
I'm free to choose what I please any old time
I'm free to choose what I please any old time
so hold me, love me, love me, hold me
I'm free any old time to get what I want, yes I am

edit for headphones. This is The Byrd's first recording of their Dylan cover, recorded June 28, 1965. This one remained unreleased for 22 years, until it was released on the album "Never Before" in 1987. It is also on the 1996 (legacy) expanded remaster edition * of "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and on the "There Is a Season" box sets. I really, really wonder what retarded guy decided not to release this version right away, in 1965. I like the cover by Van Morrison very seriously much, but wow, this is also a direct hit to me! Compared to the sluggish official Easy Rider version this is the Ferrari that smashes the creeping snail. Okay, the "version 1" album mix needed some editing, as it is not that good, but on a real loud home stereo equipment, even the official release will surely sound like a number one big hit record.
The only downside of this video is the video itself... SORRY FOR THIS DULL LAME VIDEO !
Oh, I discovered some new editing tricks, I'm so happy this song is the first one to use them on! Enjoy!
IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE
(Robert Allen Zimmerman (Duluth, Minnesota, 24 mei 1941))
you better go now, take what you want you think will last
but if there's something you wish to keep better grab it fast
yonder stands your orphan with his gun
crying like a fire in the sun
look out for who, the saints are comin' through and it's all over now, baby blue
the highway is for gamblers, better use your sense
take what you have gathered from coincidence
the empty-handed painter from your streets
is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets
the sky too is foldin' under you and it's all over now, baby blue
all your seasick sailors, they are goin' home
your empty-handed armies, they are goin' home
your lover who just walked out the door
has taken all his blankets from the floor
the carpet too is movin' under you and it's all over now, baby blue
it's all over now, baby blue
it's all over now, baby blue

Edit 1 for headphones. The Rolling Stones on "Big Beat '65", an Australian TV show, Melbourne, 29 januari '65. The performance was all mimed, so I decided to try and enhance the sound a bit. * Hope you like it. Brian Jones played slide guitar AND harmonica (though Mick Jagger is miming the harmonica on this video). Brian's outstanding musical capabilities made this song to this day the only time a blues song has ever topped the British pop charts: it reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on december 5, 1964 where it stayed for one week.
"Little Red Rooster" was recorded September 2, 1964, at Regent Sound in London. Others state that it was recorded at the Chess studio's in Chicago, which I doubt, for in that studio several outstanding early Rolling Stones songs were recorded in true stereo..
By the way: can anyone tell me who that guy is at 0.33 seconds? He definitely is not a member of The Rolling Stones...
Recorded September 2, 1964. Released as a UK single on November 13, 1964, and was a #1 hit. Released in the US on the album "The Rolling Stones Now" on February 12, 1965. November 4, 1966 on "Big Hits (high tide and gren grass)".

LITTLE RED ROOSTER
(Willie Dixon)
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
Keep everything in the farm yard upset in every way
The dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Watch out strange cat people
Little red rooster's on the prowl
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
Ain't had no peace in the farm yard
Since my little red rooster's been gone

Edit for headphones, April 2022. A (bonus) song from the 1970 album "Zero She Flies" (label "Collectors' Choice Music", catalogue number CCM-767, a reissue with three bonus tracks).
Alastair Ian Stewart was born in Glasgow, the only child of Joan Stewart, a Northamptonshire-born widow, and daughter of a professional trumpet player. Al's father (he was not quite 25 years old) was tragically killed when his plane exploded in March 1945. Al's pregnant mother went first to live with her father-in-law at Greenock, and later moved to the South-West of England and sent her son to boarding school. Many of Al's earlier songs were inspired by his boyhood and youth.
Al's devoted fan base believes he has never achieved the commercial success he deserves; by far his biggest hit was his 1976 single "Year Of The Cat."
STORMY NIGHT
(Al Stewart)
Stormy Night
there you sat at the center of the stage
smoky light I can look at you, I can't tell your age
Stormy Night what's in a name
I thought I knew you a long time ago
what did I know
I thought I loved you a long time ago
Stormy Night, lonely day
Stormy Night
how they look at you just who can you be
see the crowd when you look at them
just what do you see
Stormy Night what's in a game
I thought I saw you a long time ago
down by the sea
you held a pebble, your hand poised to throw
Stormy Night, dance for me
Stormy Night
watching your pain
starry love child with bloodlight eyes
down on your knees
silver night cloudless star in the skies floating free
Stormy Night dance for me
Stormy Night
mmm
Stormy Night
Stormy Night

Edit 3 for headphones, June 2021. Dubbed video. This is the long version, 13 seconds longer, with more spoken text at the end. It is not an actual video of them performing this song, for there's not such video known to me. It is just to get the feel of a (fake, or mimed) live performance. Sorry to disappoint you.
Source of this edit is song 26 of the bootleg "2120 South Michigan Avenue (The Unreleased 1964 Blues Album)" by Liberated Bootlegs http://vivales-bootlegs.blogspot.com/ (label: Chess - Catalogue nr. Chess 64). The harmonica solo is much clearer on this bootleg version.
Recorded May 10 & 11, 1965. B-side of "Satisfaction", released June 6 (US) August 20 (UK) 1965. Released on "Out Of Our Heads" in July 30 (US) september 24 (UK) 1965. This longer version with extra lyrics at song's ending was on the early pressings of "Out Of Our Heads", and was added back in and released on "The Rolling Stones Singles Collection - The London Years" in 1985.
Harmonica: Brian Jones. Lead vocals: Mick Jagger. Guitar: Keith Richards. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman. Piano: Ian Stewart.
THE UNDER ASSISTANT WEST COAST PROMOTION MAN
(Nanker Phelge)
(Here are the true lyrics, you won't find them anywhere else...)
well I'm waiting at the bus stop in downtown L.A.
well I'm waiting at the bus stop in downtown L.A.
but I'd much rather be on a boardwalk on Broadway
well I'm sitting here thinkin' just how sharp I am
well I'm sitting here thinkin' just how sharp I am
I'm an under assistant west coast promo man
well I promo groups when they come into town
well I promo groups when they come into town
well they laugh at my toupee, they sure do put me down
well I'm sitting here thinking just how sharp I am
yeah I'm sitting here thinking just how sharp I am
I'm a necessary talent behind every rock and roll band
yeah, I'm sharp, I'm really, really sharp
I sure do earn my pay, sitting on the beach every day, yeah
I have two clerks, I break my ass every day
I'm real real sharp, yes I am, I got a cravat and a seersucker * suit, yes I have
here comes the bus, uh oh, I, I thought I had it, a di, where's my dime
I knew, I know a got a dime here somewhere
ohh, I'm so sharp, you won't believe I am sharp, I really am
don't laugh at me, I'm no phony, I'm no phony, no no...
* seersucker is a thin fabric, used to make clothing for spring and summer wear.

edit for headphones. edit with some more body, some more bang, somewhat nearer to the explosion... source file for the edit is from the album "eve of destruction" (2006 remaster). according to Barry, the song was recorded in one take on a thursday morning (singing the lyrics from words scrawled on a crumpled piece of paper). the recording includes an "ehhh" where he could not read the words (at 0.53-0.54). Barry then he got a call from the record company at 7.00 the next monday morning, telling him to turn on the radio: his song was playing.
which i.m.o. is not really true, for at 3:04 you can clearly hear "over and over" is inserted later on over the "me" of the line "tell me"...
A protest song ** about political issues of the '60s, many radio stations refused to play it because of its antigovernment lyrics. There was an upside to this controversy, however, as it piqued interest in the song, sending it to no 1 in the US.
Vocals: Barry Mcguire. Bass: Larry Knechtel. Drums: Hal Blaine. Guitar: P.F. Sloan, Tommy Tedesco. Percussion: Steve Barri.
EVE OF DESTRUCTION
(Philip Gary Schlein *)
The eastern world it is explodin'
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill but not for votin'
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin'
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction
Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
And Can't you feel the fear that I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave
Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction
Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin'
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin'
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation
Handful of Senators don't pass legislation
And marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin'
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction
Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for eight days in space
But when your return, it's the same old place
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace
Hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace
And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Edit for headphones. This is the mono version from the bootleg cd "Black Box" by 'Yellow Dog". Processed "stereo". Listen for instance to the backing vocals at 0.21 and 0.55. These backing vocals are totally different from the backing vocals on the so called stereo version of this song. I think that ("fake") stereo version is the mono version with new backing vocals added to the left and the right. The "fake" stereo version is on the 'Vinyl Gang 'bootleg "Necrophilia" and on the official release "Metamorphosis". (The mono version is also on "Genuine Black Box" from 'Scorpio'.)
Recorded on July 1, 1964, only features two Stones: Mick Jagger on vocals and Keith Richards on guitar, other musicians unknown. * Not meant to be released as a Stones song, but was in 1975 on the "Metamorphosis" album.
The song was written for other artists. Mick Jagger decided to release it too. The Mighty Avengers performed the song. They are on the album "Connection 1963-66".
Stones' version line up:
Drums: Andy White
Bass: (Bill Wyman?)
Acoustic guitars: Keith Richards and Jim Sullivan
Electric guitar: John McLaughlin or Jimmy Page
Lead vocal: Mick Jagger
Backing vocals: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards & Andrew Oldham
Piano: (unknown)
Percussion & bells: (unknown)
(WALKIN' THRU THE) SLEEPY CITY
(Jagger/Richards)
Walkin'thru' the sleepy city
In the dark it looks so pretty
Till I got to the one cafe
That stays open night and day
Just a lookin' at the sleepy city
In the night it looks so pretty
No one sees the city lights
they just care about the warmth inside
No one listens to what people say
I just sit and hear the radio play
Just then this girl walked in my way
And she was as pretty as my sleepy city, and
Will you walk through the sleepy city
In the night it looks so pretty
Tired of walkin on my own
It looks better when you're not alone, o yeah
(instr.)
Will you walk through the sleepy city
In the night it looks so pretty
I'm tired of walkin on my own
It looks better when you're not alone
Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
Will you walk through the sleepy city
In the night, well it looks so pretty
I'm tired of walkin on my own
It looks better when you're not alone, no
C'mon walk through that sleepy city
I said in the night it looks so pretty
I'm tired of walkin that park on my own
It looks better when you're not alone, no wow wow
mmm la la la
mmm la la la
mmm la la la la la

Edit for headphones, October 2021. A song of the 1974 album "Sheet Music" (2010 shm-cd with bonus tracks). The band name has always been a subject of lore. Word was that 9cc (cubic centimeters) is the average volume of male ejaculation, so 10cc is one better. The truth is that Jonathan King assigned them the name after having a dream where he saw the phrase "10cc: The Best Band In The World" outside of the Hammersmith Odeon. (Jonathan King is a English singer-songwriter, record producer, music entrepreneur and former television and radio presenter.)
OLD WILD MEN
(Kevin Godley/Lol Creme)
where are my boys?
they are in deepest water
where are they now?
they are over the hill and far away
but they are broken men who lie low
waiting for miracles
old men of rock and roll
came bearing music
where are they now?
they are over the hill and far away
but they're still gonna play guitars
on dead strings and old drums
they'll play and play to pass the time
the old wild men
old wild men
old wild men, waiting for miracles
Lord have mercy upon the many
Lord have mercy upon the few
Lord have mercy upon the many
Lord have mercy on me and on you

Edit (hyde park) for headphones. Sound quality not so good, sorry for that. With Mick Taylor on (slide) guitar. He starts at 1.10 with quite Brian Jones like guitar licks. Alas, the video opens with those stupid dumb "hell's angels" pimple headed adolescents... boy, what did they do there? And what do they do today? Be a man, ride a bicycle to get rid of your big fat belly... and behave like a man... the fresh air will do you & me & the environment well, for motorcycles are the most polluting means of transport, you ignorant asshole!
Source file of the edit is the (mono) song is on the album "Hyde Park 1969" by "The Swingin' Pig Records" (catalogue nr. TSP-cd-023-2). Not the very best sound quality, by the way.
The Stones performed in front of a crowd estimated at between 250,000 and 500,000 fans.
Keith Richard said: "We played pretty bad until near the end, because we hadn't played [live] for years... Nobody minded, because they just wanted to hear us play again."

I used to play this one loud in my car... the trains in the official video run way to fast, but it's allright now, I set it to the correct speed, enjoy! Again, less channel separation, more guitar, for the guitar part is FANTASTIC ! Hope you like my mix.
It is the debut single by The Monkees, released August 16, 1966.
The song has been compared to The Beatles' "Paperback Writer", in the style of "jangly" guitar, the chord structure and the vocal harmonies. Sorry, but I think The Monkees simply did a better job, just as The Rolling Stones' covers usually sound much better than the originals...
David Thomas Jones (Davy)(30 December 1945 – 29 February 2012).
Peter Halsten Thorkelson a.k.a. Peter Tork (February 13, 1942 – February 21, 2019).
Sue Stong wrote in a comment:
Peter Tork, has passed from this world. His fans where considered "Torkees". His paternal grandfather was of Norwegian descent, while his mother was of half German-Jewish and half Irish ancestry.

STRAY CAT BLUES
(Jagger/Richards)
I hear the click-clack of your feet on the stairs
I know you're no scare-eyed honey.
There'll be a feast if you just come upstairs
But it's no hanging matter
It's no capital crime
I can see that you're fifteen years old
No I don't want your I.D.
I can see that you're so far from home
But that's no hanging matter
It's no capital crime
Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat
Oh yeah, don'tcha scratch like that
Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat
I Bet, bet your mama don't know you scream like that
I bet your mother don't know you can spit like that.
You look so weird and so lost from home
But you don't really miss your mother
Don't look so scared I'm not no mad-brained bear
But it's no hanging matter
It's no capital crime
Oh, yeah
Woo!
I bet your mama don't know that you scatch like that
I bet she don't know you can bite like that.
You say you got a girlfriend, that she's wilder than you
Why don't you bring her upstairs
If she's so wild then she can join in too
It's no hanging matter
It's no capital crime
Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat
Oh yeah, don'tcha scratch like that
Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat
I bet you mama don't know you can bite like that
I'll bet she never saw you scratch my back

Not an edit, for this is genuine Dutch quality recording. A #11 hit in Holland and #24 in Belgium, it was released in 1980 and hit the charts in 1981. The song was composed by Hans Vermeulen (September 18, 1947 – November 9, 2017), the lead singer of the band "Sandy Coast". It was "the single of the year" according to the Dutch Edison awards in 1981. The peculiar thing is that the single was released after "Sandy Coast" had disbanded seven years earlier, in 1973 !
The Fortunes covered this song, among other artists.
This video was already on Youtube, I just gave it some more colors and a decent fade in and out.
