Welcome to the first installment of deciphering Hip Hop.. Today we got a great song from the artist known as blackbird, former member of the underground crew Darkleaf. This song is loaded with provocative phrases & metaphors, so I'll be going over every line (with my somewhat dark leaf shirt) in giving some deeper meanings to his words and how they apply to the past present and future.. I meant to elaborate more, but i'm still getting used to these in-front-of-the-camera talks.. love this song.. I forgot to mention in the video when i was talking about complacency in that he has a track from the same album titled 'Victim To Complacency,' which is pretty funny, satirical, but quite true for many.. Not much to say in the description since i left it all out in the video..

feel free to leave a comment on how you interpret some of these lyrics and messages.. I did incorporate this track in a previous conscious hip hop mix titled Time to Wake Up & Realize a few years ago in my time capsule series if anyone's interested..
