The First Wave Movement Protests Tedros' Visit at Diplomatic Centre
... Dear Prime Minister,
I write to you on behalf of The First Wave Movement, an organization dedicated to advocating for religious rights, civil liberties, and proper medical care. I am writing to express our deep disappointment and grave concerns regarding the visit of Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), to Trinidad and Tobago. The manner in which this visit was conducted, without any prior information or communication to the country, including the media, is highly disrespectful and unacceptable.
The secrecy surrounding Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus' visit raises serious questions about the government's transparency and accountability to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. As a democratic nation, it is essential that the government keeps its citizens informed about important matters, especially when it involves the visit of a high-profile international figure. The lack of disclosure and communication regarding Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus' visit has left the people feeling disregarded and disrespected.
We demand an immediate explanation from the government regarding the decision to bring Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to Trinidad and Tobago without informing the country in advance. The government must be held accountable for its actions and provide a thorough justification for its secretive approach. The citizens of Trinidad and Tobago have the right to know why such a visit took place and why it was shrouded in secrecy.
Furthermore, we categorically reject any intention by the government to sign any accord, agreements, or treaties that compromise the sovereignty and rights of our nation. The people of Trinidad and Tobago will not tolerate the dismantling of our democracy or the trading of our sovereignty for any form of humiliation, dishonor, or enslavement. We demand that the government refrain from engaging in any such agreements that undermine our fundamental rights and freedoms.
It is crucial to emphasize that the government will be held fully and wholly responsible for any breaches of our citizens' human rights and freedoms. The dismantling of Trinidad and Tobago's democracy, if proven to be true, will be met with the strongest resistance from our organization and the citizens we represent. We will not hesitate to take legal action and hold the government accountable for their actions...
