When an infant doesn't get his way or is restrained by his parents, HE or SHE may become unhappy. Subsequently, the infant will pout, sulk, cry, scream, throw objects, and even destroy things. We are not totally surprised by this behavior as very young children are extremely self centered and focus solely on getting their desires met. In their minds, the world revolves around them. But with the right training, parents punish such willfulness and teach their children to grow out of this immature mentality. With maturity comes the acceptance of personal responsibility. It means you must behave in ways that are beneficial to others and society and think beyond yourself. But what of those people who do not train their children about personal responsibility and civilized behavior? Even the adults in this community do not practice cultural discipline and do not have high standards for themselves. Just like the self-centered infants, they feel entitled and believe they are owed something by society. As a result, they don't pass on a strong sense of responsibility to their children. What will then become of their grown children who don't learn that there are consequences for bad behavior? From those people we get tantrums and riots and destruction and lawlessness.
(Note: the caption in this video is reportedly erroneous as the infantile but dangerous man-child who caused this destruction was closer to 15 or 16 years old. This fact only more strongly confirms how one particular culture in the US is disproportionately derelict in training its children to be responsible and civilized adults.)
