When Ashley Massis Class' four-year-old daughter started talking about monsters making noises in her room, her parents tried to calm her down and reason with her.
To no avail - and with good reason, as it turned out.
"She said she heard monsters in her bedroom wall, but we had recently watched 'Monsters Inc' (Disney animated movie)," American Ashley Massis Class tells People. (https://people.com/toddler-hears-monsters-in-bedroom-walls-over-50-000-bees-found-exclusive-8639105)
The parents thought their four-year-old daughter thought there were monsters in the closet.
So, as parents of young children would often do in that situation, Ashley Massis Class tried to explain to her daughter that there were no monsters in her room. She also got creative and equipped her daughter with a 'monster spray' - which was a spray bottle containing water.
But it did little good.
The little girl kept talking about monsters in the wall and eventually became afraid to sleep in her own room.
One day, Ashley Massis Class and her husband noticed that there were bees in the attic of their century-old farmhouse.
This prompted them to contact a pest control company, but they were told that the bees were honeybees, which are endangered and therefore cannot be treated as pests, and were simply looking for a place to live.
Just in case, the parents contacted a beekeeper - and what he discovered ended up solving the monster mystery.
Observing the bees in the attic, the beekeeper noticed that they were flying into a crevice in a certain spot in the house.
Right above their daughter's room.
