Should we do NOTHING!? Of course not. We can do better. We know if we run our cars in the garage with all the doors closed, the fumes will kill us. So I'm sure we could do better in respect to our environment, like not dumping shit into our lakes and rivers. Not using and burying radioactive shit that we don't know what to do with.
Not building so many cars that don't sell and end up in landfill! Brand new cars they won't sell for less because the manufacturers know if they sell them for less, nobody will buy the really new cars so they let the unsold ones rot in landfill!
I can personally attest to humans don't need to be eating the dead either. I have not eaten meat in 30 years. I'm sure it's not necessary for us otherwise all the vegans and vegetarians would be dead by now. I quit for ethical reasons but the waste is unimaginable. Only 30% of the animals makes it back to the plates of humans! That means we need 70% more animals to get the useable 30%. Then there's the land use (misuse) and the water! 2500 gallons = 1lb of "meat" and remember when your doing the math in your head that 70% is wasted! That means the water too. Then there's the power used and the trucks and the gas and the worst is the refrigeration!
People think "their meat" was killed a few days ago like they are the only users of meat! No, there has to be a huge "reservoir" between the consumer and the farmer. Buildings, 100's of 1000's of square feet have to be kept sub zero to house the millions of dead carcases and keep them frozen. These "reservoirs" are all across the planet. Your meat was killed YEARS ago! Then the carcases are chopped up smaller and REFRIGERATED trucks are used to take the chopped up parts to CROSS DOCK facilities which also have to be refrigerated at SUB ZERO. Then MORE refrigerated trucks come to disperse the dead to the grocery stores which have their own freezers. Then those parts are cut up even more and the smaller parts are put on display in display freezers (more refrigeration) Then people buy it and put it in THEIR refrigerators.
You know when its hot out and you set your air conditioner to 75 degrees? If its 85 outside, your AC only has to bring your temp down by 10 degrees.
Now imagine if your AC had to bring your house temp. to below freezing and keep it there 24/7/365.
Now imagine, the average house is like what? let's say 2000sf. Well the freezer buildings are 100's of 1000's of SF. The average being about 200,000sf. Imagine trying to keep that below freezing 24/7/365.
Now imagine there are how many of those buildings for each given population. x how many world wide!? .....?
