Antes de la era de la vigilancia generalizada, las “fake news” o los bebés hechos a medida, dos novelas anticipatorias del siglo XX advertían de los excesos de las sociedades democráticas: “Un mundo feliz” de Aldous Huxley y “1984” de George Orwell, publicadas respectivamente en 1932 y 1949.

La primera describe una civilización hedonista, consumista y eugenésica en un Londres futurista; la segunda denuncia la vigilancia sistematizada de un régimen totalitario: el "Gran Hermano". Una dibuja una dictadura científica que, apoyándose en la biotecnología, esclavizaría a los individuos programados; la otra, un estado burocrático y represivo que confiscaría la libertad de pensamiento y de memoria.

Con análisis de escritores (Boualem Sansal) y filósofos (Cynthia Fleury), así como el conmovedor testimonio del hijo adoptivo de George Orwell, Richard Blair, este documental confronta las obras visionarias de Huxley y Orwell, y denuncia los escalofriantes desafíos del mundo contemporáneo.
