Guts'n (ガツン) is a puzzle game developed by Kouyousha and published by Kaneko. It was only released in the arcades and came out only in Japan.
You play a nurse trying to cure a patient by killing off bacteria. The game uses a single screen where rows of bacteria will emerge from below into eight columns. You move the nurse to the left or row on top of the columns, and you can also go beside the outer columns. The nurse can use her syringe for a thrust to the left, right or below. If you hit a bacteria from the side, it will move one field in this direction and will push back other bacteria one field ahead, as well, if there is no free space. Bacteria shoved outside the eight columns get crushed. Thrusting below will crush the lowest of the bacteria in the column. If at least three bacteria of the same colour are aligned horizontally after a thrust, they will disappear. Bacteria on top will fall down and might cause a chain of disappearances. If one column of bacteria reaches the ceiling at the upper part of the screen, it's game over.
There are two modes in single player. There is an endless mode where you try to persist as long as possible, and there is a level-based mode where you have to fill a gauge within in a time limit in each level. The gauge is filled by making groups of bacteria disappear, with larger groups and chains contributing more to the gauge. Cleaning up the screen temporarily will also contribute. You do not have an exact timer, but the ceiling will start to drop down over time, so you will eventually go game over if you are not fast enough.
