Why was the first legislative act by the Bolsheviks in the USSR after overthrowing the Christian czar called the "Antisemitism Act"? This law made it a criminal offense to defame Jews and Judaism. Even a joke about the Jews was classified as a "hate crime" punishable by 10 years in prison. In addition, anticommunism was considered antisemitism. Leon Trotsky (a Jew born Lev Davidovich Bronstein) used the word "racist" against his enemies to silence critics of communism. The fact that communist revolutionaries and leaders in the tyrannical and murderous Soviet Union were predominantly Jewish is not emphasized in the history books. Why would that be?
