Where does depression come from? In our critical sensitive period, we've got these non-nurturing elements. They're things that mess with us during the formative periods of our lives, between ages 0-9. Everybody has at least a few of them. What do they do? They create a negative lens of how we see the world and how we see ourselves. When you've got these things you'll create a counter which we call a dysfunctional need. Then we are doing all the things to meet this need emotionally. "I need to be better", "I need to try harder"... It creates a pressure cooker which makes it too difficult and stressful to manage these beliefs. At this point we opt-out where we can't do them anymore and this creates hopeless and powerless feelings which create avoidance, low self-esteem and other related feelings which we commonly associate with depression.
